I guess I should add my two cents here. I listen to HotTicket 700 mainly b/c the reception sucks for 1280 in the antiradio cage that is my office (yes, I know that 1280 has streaming, but dealing w/ Windows Media streams in Linux is annoying). It is true that Matt Thomas and Bill Riley don't talk a ton of soccer. I will however say that Matt Thomas is very open to listener opinions and Bill is very well informed. Matt went to the LA game and said it wasn't bad. He is open minded on the topic. Here is an example:
On the day of the LA game Matt said, "Why haven't RSL fans chimed in to let me know that they are disappointed that I haven't had an RSL interview or talked about RSL on game day?" Well, since that time I have sent him an e-mail (easier for me than calling at work) the day before a game or Thursday before a Saturday game and asked for an RSL interview. Both times the interview has happened. He had Jamie on before the Chicago game and Seth on before the Metros game. I don't know if more people are asking for this or not or if it is a coincidence, but this has been what has happened. I guess the moral of the story is if you want to hear some more RSL talk then Matt Thomas seems to be very open to talking about it for a bit if people are interested. Bill Riley also talks soccer periodically. He had Pastorino on recently and asked him about the Argentina-Brasil Confederations Cup final game. Bill had seen the game and thought it was great soccer (which it was). To me that shows that Bill is really quite informed and will probably also talk soccer if people call in to talk about it when he brings it up. So for my money HotTicket 700 seems very open to soccer and willing to talk about it if the listeners want to talk about it. I can however say that it will take a bit before significant time is given to soccer. I can see the point of view w/ the call screener that told DadOf8 they didn't have more time for soccer. I am pretty sure that if they start talking about soccer for much more than 2 segments or so that they probably start getting calls telling them to shutup about soccer and talk "real" sports. They are bound by what the general listener wants to hear and the general listener sadly isn't very open minded about soccer I would guess. Anyway, that is a long two cents, but that is it.

I'm in touch with my inner-child. I don't know if you're aware of this, but a lot of Loyalists hang out at http://www.realsaltlake.org/forums/ we had a big discussion about you today. I even suggested kidnapping you and painting your face but someone thought it would be better to kidnap Brad Rock and paint his bald head. (I hope you know we don't really intend to do this.) Can I make a request of you? Would you interview an RSL player? Some of us listen to Bill Riley over on 700 AM and he has some good interviews with RSL players. I know you're learning the game but the players are really cool and I think they'll give you a break if you don't know the game. I'd like to personally request that you interview Clint Mathis or Jamie Watson if possible. Thanks for your RSL coverage, Roger On 7/5/05, Kevin Graham <kevin [at] 1280kzn.com> wrote: > Roger, > > Just having some fun....thanks for being a good sport! > > > Kevin Graham > Big Show Co-Host > 1280 The Zone > 515 S. 700 E. Mike Lewis is a RSL n00b, but a really nice guy who wants to know more about soccer and has admitted his son is a big fan of the EPL and Arsenal.
That should be a good show. BTW Thanks for sharing his email, Dad. 😉

Ellinger on 1280 this morning (8:30AM for those who want to try to find it in the taped version)
Some notes: - Chris Brown will be moved to the back line this week :ohmy2: - Gregorio (sp?) will likely be available this week (says Aug 15th deadline does not apply) - Cabrera will likely be coming on soon as well (same thing w/ Aug 15th deadline not applying) - Jay Nolly to start against Minnesota - Broome likely available Saturday, but Coach E doesn't feel that he's in 90-minute game shape yet, so he'd be a sub
