Okay, this thread...well, I don't know where I wanted it to go I guess, when I started, but here's where I want it to go now: Let's see if we can do something about the lack?

Let's not fight with each other and try and make each other feel bad. Instead, let's see if we can expand our support.

What I think we need are just a couple of things.

1: Flag Wavers. We used to impress all with our various and plentiful flags. Now, our flags, when they make it to the game, tend to sit on floor. I think we should take volunteers for flag waving. Would you like to be a flag waver? PM Merrill. Merrill has sort of become the official keeper of the flags. I have several flags...I'm not sure how many off the top of my head. I'm at work, so I can't go to my closet and count them, but I will get an exact count in the near future. I could write your name on the flag, and then, every week, you could have that flag to wave. The Cup is the official keeper of the BIG FLAGS. If you would prefer to be a Big Flag Waver, PM me about that too, and The Cup and I will make sure you have a BIG FLAG (they really are the coolest thing at the games).

and what do you do with a flag? You wave it. We should be considerate of those behind us, and not wave them while the action is on...but let's not just put them in a sheath and forget about them either. Wave them for a moment at throw ins, goal kicks, penalties, injuries, before the game, after the game, and of course at goals. Any break in the action means it's our turn to put on the show!

2: We need chanting folks. Is it too hard to chant and watch the game at the same time? Despite what Crapids fans say, it actually is not too hard! Is it too hard to chant, dance, play a drum, and solve algebraic word problems? Probably, but we're not asking anyone to do that, so it's Okay! I will make a condensed version of our chants on paper, and hand it around the section next wednesday. Maybe I'll combine it with the flyer saying that people should come sit with us if they want.

Is there anything else we need to make chants work?

3: We need people who are willing to do other things to support the team. Make signs to hold up? There are several people who do that already. Would you like to be a drummer? I think that we have a drum, or maybe even two that could be given to you to drum during games (PM me). Etc.

I have these big rolls of red, yellow, and blue table cloth plastic, and I have been considering bringing them out to a game again. We could use them in a way similar to the way most supporters clubs use their giant flags. And maybe someday we'll get a giant flag of our own.

Did I miss anything?

Good thoughts. We did get a bit off topic there for a while, we need to get back to the issue of trying to be a loud large support group.

I keep getting there too late to get them in. It's only going to continue, because I'll be bringing the kids to the next two games. My wife doesn't mind coming to the games, but she doesn't want to spend her whole day there. I just don't get those women. Why shouldn't I be leaving home at 4:00 for a 7:00 game?

I have an idea, don't know if it would work. It has something to do with passing out flyers and inviting people to come stand and participate with the Loyalists. I often see groups of kids, usually teenagers, wearing their team uniform to a game. Why not approach some of these groups and ask them if they would like to participate with the Loyalists? I'm sure they would be loud and enjoy something like that. I don't see why we couldn't round up 30 kids each game. We can be selective and try and get the older teams.

Doesn't necessarily have to be the teams, we could ask others as well.

Would it help to spread the flags out a bit, location-wise? Like get some volunteers in E33? Or is that even a valid possibility?

edit: could even encourage "non-members" to help out with props like flags, maximizing involvement and spreading enthusiasm?

interesting idea, but it would likely have to be cleared with the FO in order to circumvent potential problems with ticket nazis, given that these groups generally buy the cheap tickets.

Great Idea. And when they come back the next time, they'll probably sit with us again. I'll give you some flyers next game.

I give flags to anyone who wants one. Hopefully, though, we can get E33 to come over to E32. I mean, we are trying to consolidate the fans and pull our supporters together more.

I'll try to track down the rest of my flags. I made one with a crown on it and stripes which I believe ended up with the Loyalists when I left, and I made another one with a skull and crown which I believe got donated to the RCB...

But there was the one with a Lion (which everyone kindly pointed out looked like a dog (Hey I'm not the best seamstress (make your own @#$%ing Lion flag if mine sucks so bad))) and I'm not sure where that one went.
