Listen to 1280

Here is my unbiased opinion.

I drove a van for a year and got to experience both 1280 and HT700 when they made the switch.
1280 is very unprofessional, they refer to inside jokes that drive me crazy (if PK makes one more reference to DJ's finances, i'll drive off a cliff). You've got to understand, PK and Monson are newspaper men! They are awful to hear over the air, they are meant to be read not heard.

PK tries to be a comedian and he is horrible (i have not listened to a full show for a long while, but occasionally i'll turn it to 1280 in the morning and realize why i don't have 1280 on my speed dial anymore).

If you want trivial jokes, keep listening. but they are the worst on air personalities in the nation. I agree Matt Thomas does not like soccer, I don't listen to Matt Thomas. Support Hatch, he broadcasts the matches, but also support Riles, he is the best soccer announcer on the FSN networks. He and Ray have been the best duo, and you know that if you've ever had to suffer through the GaLazy announcers.

If I still drove a van (i'm now on the phones all day) here's what I would listen to.
6-10 am: Music or x96. listening to John Wright on HT700 is worse than a colonoscopy and if it wasn't for PK, i'ld say DJ on 1280. NOw it's neither.

10-1pm. Jim Rome. He might hate soccer, but he doesn't cover it much, so it isn't brought up. but the man knows true sports humor and has me always laughing.

1-4pm. Hatch. Our RSL Man and a great sports commentater. He's really good. He's not pro any local school. He just knows his sports.

4-7pm. Riles. NO Question! He's the best locally.

You've struck a nerve and i still can't figure out why people flock to 1280 when it's a horrible product.

Hatch, i always liked hatch. the only one who can do the radio show by himself (even though the clown Fox is on with him mostly) on the entire line up.

followed by the Big (waste of time) show with now Graham <soccer hater> and Monson who is a paper person for a reason (ie PK).

If 1280 went DJ by himself, National show in the mid morning, Hatch in the afternoon...I might consider listening to them. Thank heavens for Riles. He not only cover soccer, HE ENJOYS IT! He wants you to talk about it. (i haven't listened to Thomas, i'ld only listen to him because he's a U homer 😉).

He's also unbiased when it comes to what he covers on his show. HE'S A SPORTS FREAK. he's said so many a time, which means....

he likes football, soccer, baseball, basketball, nascar, hocky, etc. You can listen to a couple of paper route boys talk about the 2 sports they like, or you can listen to a true radio personality/reporter cover sports.

i've made my choice and have been very happy since. but you can continue to support hosts that don't like soccer or RSL.

Duped by 1280, are you serious? You listen to a station that features Chris Tunis, and you are calling me duped?

Just out of curiosity, how did you feel about Riles when he was on the BYU station? I couldn't stand him then either. You should listen to Pace, he played bball in Italy and watched Serie A matches while he was there.

I was tired of Boler, I was thrilled when I heard that Graham was coming back because I enjoyed listening to him in the mornings the first time around.

The zone also gives as much or more attention to my Aggies than the other stations and have bought some of my loyalty that way.

Perhaps it is because I am a complete sports geek and listen for more than just soccer talk, but I feel that several of you are not being entirely objective. I on the other hand am always completely objective so you should all share my opinion, or something. 🤡

PS I also have a hard time listening to any station that features Steve Brown, although I will make exceptions for Coach Nissalke and Jazz broadcasts.

We found the key to Stuki's heart... I took the time to make it bold so it is easy to find.

I have always thought Riles is the best in Utah... PK is a close second... Hatch is also top notch. I couldn't careless about anyone else, because I don't think any of them are that good.

We actually agree here. I wish they'ld fire steve brown so when the utes play I don't have to watch the game in silence.

He is bad, but PK and monson are FAR worse.

PK cracks me up, but I would hate to spend any time with him. I love reading Monson, but he and Bolerjack were a bad combination. He, DJ, and Booner together were the second best combo ever behind only the Dave Blackwell, Steve Klauke, and Ron Boone show on the old 570. I enjoy the red blue banter between Pace and Alema.

I also really enjoy Scotty G, although we need to help him over his dislike of the beautiful game.

Steve Brown is a traitor, he graduated from USU.

Really? I just don't care for him, he calls a decent game for RSL, but I have a very hard time listening to him on the radio. His voice grates on me.

I tried listening to sports radio, but I just couldn't sit through (what seemed like) hours of wasted time. I bet that less than half of the talk is geared toward actual sports, where the rest sounds like just a couple of really old high schoolers talking between classes. 700, 1280 1320 (do they still do sports radio?) and it just bores me to tears.

I haven't heard Tunis for a long time. Does he suck now? I just remember that I used to like listening to him when I was much younger.

It's all about the book on CD for me, unless I know there's a post game show on 1280.

That I could understand... his voice is different.

But he just knows sports so well and is respectful to everyone... I just like the guy.

I am a sports geek, so no music until all of the local shows are over. The only reason I used to listen to Riles was they were on until 8. I also liked the coaches shows. I am a geek for coaches shows, except for the ones hosted by Marcroft.
