I'm not convinced that is a plus side in this market. There are many families that like to bring small children to the games here.

Dittos to that.

Back in the day in the Rose Bowl, I broke out many times with "Etcheverry, compadre, anoche tuvimos", well; you fill in the blanks from there.

But these days, I have to Work Clean.

Maybe I was just imagining things, but I got quite a few people to join in at chanting "Geena Davis" at Jose Cancela. You won't get as many people joining in chants featuring F bombs, etc.

Besagno was at fault on the first goal last night.
Notice that nowhere in my post did I say either goal was Besagno's fault. I simply pointed out that both times we've given up late goals he's been on the field. I'm not blaming him for anything, just pointing out something interesting.

Stucki, you know me well enough to know that I rarely blame a single person when we give up a goal, because I believe that 90% of all goals are due to two mistakes and a bit of luck. On the last goal, the two mistakes were Novak's tackle and Sequiera's marking (or lack thereof). The luck was the bounce Marsch got off Novak's leg.

When you've got a better product (and there's demand to see it), then we can start worrying about seat assingments. But for now, call off the Rice Eccles SS.

.

Crappy play, an idiot coach, indifferent players, a psychotic owner and now; a proactively stupid front office is not enough to drive away fans.

Now; FC The Producers has to call in reinforcements to harrass the few fans who might still show up.

I grew up attending Utah football games with all the drunks in the south end zone, where swearing (and tequila) was like breathing.

Last time I checked, I wasn't an axe-murderer, crack dealer, or a raging slutstick, so I have a hard time with people telling me what I can and can't say at a soccer game.

But that's just me.

My parents always got us tickets in the "worst" area of Rice Stadium. They never once told those cussing to watch their language. not once. and see, we still turned out okay.

We live in a different world these days I guess, where parents want to coddle their children.

To those who have teenagers: your kids hear far worse language at school and in a more sexually explicit manner than anything they'll hear at a soccer match.

to those who have kids in elementry: kids are cussing there as well. I remember hearing my first in the 3rd grade, that was eons ago. (that's not including the occasional slip up by parents when they got upset).

I took letters to scout camp from parents.... why? why does a mother need to send a letter to scout camp for her child? He's been gone 2 days!

But then again, these are a lot of the same folks who were happy when LHM removed the movie about the gay cowboys, while they were watching movies like Hostile and Saw II.

OUCH!

That one hurt. You expect to give up a stoppage time goal that changes the result and costs you points maybe once a year and we’ve had it happen twice in a five day period at home.

It is quite ironic how things turned out in the end. If Chivas leads 3-2 late and RSL gets the stoppage time goal, people leave excited and happy. If the game is 3-3 for the last 30 minutes of the game, people leave satisified and feel entertained, but last night when we gave up the very late tying goal, many fans left feeling quite down. All 3 cases would have been the same result in the standings. Doesn’t help of course we had a very late goal the previous game.

Team seems to not recognize how to kill off the last few minutes. In this situation you play keep away, try to control the ball, try to draw fouls (so you can waste a minute setting up the free kick), play to the corner, and when you lose possession, GET BACK ON DEFENSE! Scott did a nice job milking the clock a bit, such as drying his hands on the towel before taking a goal kick and seemed to have a good perception of how much time the referee would allow, but no one else really seemed to have a feel for how to wind things down. One statement I heard once at a hockey game that really sums it up is the best defense is a good offense. This doesn’t mean of course that we make aggressive reckless runs and play long balls into the box or let loose wild shots, but rather when the team needs to protect a result they need to pass the ball around making the opponent expend time and energy chasing us, and if we get the ball down into enemy territory, then we look to knock a ball into the net and ice the game.

Have to talk about the positives though. The team played nicely after getting burned early. I had an unexpected delay getting to the match and I walked in and saw we were down 1-0 after about 5 minutes. If told at that point we were going to earn a draw I would have been happy. This was also one of the more entertaining and attractive matches of the year with lots of attacking and lots of shots. The second goal by Talley was an amazing blast and Andy’s third goal where we had a very nice passing combination was simply a beautiful goal that came from great teamwork. Fans really seemed to enjoy things until the last mistake at the end too. I noticed a lot more fans than usual in sections on both sides of the Loyalists clapping and joining in and even a few standing. I hope enough of the casual fans last night saw enough scoring that they will be inspired to come out again. Yes the ending was definitely a let down, but this was a lot funner than sitting through the scoreless draws earlier this month.
