RSL has been ALL OVER sports radio today. It sounds like Gordon Monson is converted, Scottie G isn't. Hatch is still learning, but it will take a while for him to be able to overcome his ego and just admit he likes the sport.

There have been lots of phone calls about RSL, most saying they loved the game on Saturday, a few saying they didn't.

Gordon talked about the Loyalists a little, he said "Let's put it this way... it means a lot to these people!" :D

Hatch is going to sell it hard because he thinks it will help get a MLB franchise. Whatever it takes, I'm glad he just will be positive. I'm surprised by Scotty G. I thought he would be more open minded.

I tend to agree with that, I think it will open the door to an MLB franchise, but then you'll have MLB competing with MLS for fans in a small market. I say give it 10 to 20 years, maybe sooner if Real continues to get the same level of support they did on Saturday, then other leagues will see how passionate fans in Utah are. It's especially nice that we have a good team. Real sure didn't play like an expansion team.

As of 7:55 PM MST the vote looked like this:

50.94% It was awesome.
5.66% If this doesn't work, I don't know what will.
10.06% 1-0? Score some goals.
13.84% The way the Jazz and Cougars have played, anything goes.
15.41% Talk to me in two years
4.09% It was fun, I'll go back when they have fireworks

Looks preeeetty good. :D

Coach Ellinger is going to be on for his weekly radio show in a few minutes.

And vote in the poll. I'm sure that I don't have to tell you which option to vote for. 🙂

Some notes from Ellinger on 1280 this morning.

He thought the crowd was fantastic. It was all positive with no negative. He felt extra pressure to win for the fans than he usually does. He didn't hear the Loyalists himself because he was too focused, but heard from other staff members that we did a great job. Overall, it was just a great day with the weather, the fans, and the win.

He thinks that LA and Dallas are the two best teams in the West (minus RSL of course). He said that LA is very deep and talented with national team members playing on their reserve squad and that Dallas has great strikers. He expects early pressure from Dallas this weekend.

He felt that the timing between Jason, Clint, and Dipsy was a little bit off Saturday, but that is something that will get worked out as the season goes along and they will work on it in practice.

Williams is jogging and may be back for the San Jose game on the 30th.

Players don't watch film. The coaches watch film, break it down, and then pass on what they see to the players.

He also went over some of the terms and which one he prefers:
game over match
training over practice
goalkeeper over keeper or goalie
coach over manager
standings over table
field over pitch

They have already sold 15,000 tickets for the June 4th double-header.

Just got in to work and was listening to 1280 where they had a new poll going this morning:

"Jazz fans, how excited are you about the NBA Playoffs?"

One of the options, and running away with the lead is:
"RSL is way more entertaining than the playoffs"

So I raced in to see who it was that posted on here for us to all stuff the poll....and didn't find anything. Hmm. Maybe Utah loves RSL even *without* us stuffing the polls!
