Hatch now interviewing Pastorino

Mr. P is talking about having winning streaks at the right time of the year. He says you have to get hot toward the end of the year, like Chicago did in '98.

Pastorino denied there is any rift between Mathis and Williams. He says Ellinger is the best coach for Mathis to thrive under. "This is Clint's team" he says. He says Mathis thrives in the leadership role, he "thrives as THE guy."

"He's the only player in MLS history to dare to go to the World Cup, under all that spotlight, with a mohawk." - paraphrase

Ellinger doesn't want to make Clint change, he wants him to be himself. Kreis is happy to be in the situation where Mathis is THE guy on the team.

Pastorino once again says Williams and Mathis never hated each other, everyone likes them. "We think it's all going to mesh together."

It's supposed to rain tomorrow.

I loved Hatch's comments about about the feeling around the team and how good it was. I think that he is coming around just like we knew he would.

Either that or he is just sucking up to Dave. I hope that isn't the case, but even as big a dork as Hatch is, even he can't miss the aura surrounding the team.

Hatch now talking to Uncle Dave Checketts

"It's a dream come true" says DC. He says we've got great players, coaches, front office.

DC says that SLC is excited about RSL, talks about the Trib's spread, saying the excitement is high. Hatch mentions that their web poll had 42% response "I can't wait." (good job poll stuffers!) Hatch says there is a buzz about the product. DC says there are a lot of people just learning about pro soccer, who previously only played recreationally. He says each game is critical in MLS.

DC talks about his meeting with Huntsman and Bramble. They both expressed a desire to help RSL build a stadium. They are putting a taskforce together of gov't and business leaders who will search for creative approaches to getting it done. "We'll find a solution. I'd like to be in the new stadium by 2007." He says every major league franchise needs a home.

DC says it will be either Murray or SLC. They've had approaches from other cities but it will be one of those 2. DC says Metrostars are about to announce a new stadium in Harrison NJ. he says RSL's new stadium will host statewide soccer games (youth games, etc.) and also concerts.

DC got calls from other major cities when they heard the funding disappeared, but he says RSL is NOT leaving Utah. DC "Boler, you are the man." (Bolerjack joking around in the studio)

Bolerjack: The pressure you have, Hatch, is that you'll be the very first announcer to call a RSL goal. Boler is now plugging his mexican food goal-calls. Hatch says he's working on his goal call.

1280 will have a 15-minute pre-game show before the game tomorrow. Hatch says there is a positive feeling with the team. Boler "A lot of folks will tune in; it's exciting and new."

Boler says it's important for fans to learn the game if they are not familiar with it. That way they can talk about it around the water-cooler every monday. DC says fans will have to adjust to the lack of immediacy that there is in basketball. He says you have to appreciate the defense, strategy, and appreciate it for what it is. DC mentions around the world that fans support their team above all, not necessarily star players. "It's going to be a lot of fun."

And that's the end of Hatch's show from Giants Stadium.

The Honorable Czar comes through again.

I was really upset that I had missed the show until I realized Czar Jake had recorded it all for my reading pleasure.

Thanks Czar!
