So I doubt the not-yet-soccer-fans that we're trying to get aboard the bandwagon will think twice about the group they'd be associating with.

I do think this is an opporunity to define who were really are. So I support Jules' press release. Might seem like overkill, but it will pair well with the release the FO has already put out.

As for doing something nice for Sen. Bramble--don't think so. We didn't do anything to him, so we don't need to apologize. We ceetainly don't support sophomoric tactics like these vandals use. The press release can stress that we don't vandalize--but we do vote. Now that's how you get a politician's attention.
Perhaps we should state in the press release that even though the Loyalists didn’t have anything to do with the “vandalism” (oh my!), we are still opposed to the legislation that he introduced...

❗

I agree that that would be an excellent idea. It is important that we make an explicit denial, so no one can say, "They didn't deny it, so it must have been them".

And if the "PERP" is reading these, please remember that your actions can adversely affect a lot of other people than yourself. You could easily ruin a very good thing for a very many people!

We can laugh it off as the equivalent of TP'ing the coach's house after a big win, but it WAS vandalism.

It was also stupid and weak, and although I understand the caution in not making it bigger than it was, I also recommend we don't minimize it. Someone did something really dumb, and they did it as a form of completely misguided support for RSL.

We set it right by issuing the release, fulling supporting the club's position on this issue, and ensuring that the Loyalists are not associated with anything as stupid as trying to intimidate a state senator. We're better than that.

I agree with his legislation. I can't afford to send my kids to private school, and I want my tax money to go to schools instead of Corporate Welfare for millionaires like Dave Checketts or Larry H Miller's Salt Lake Twins.

Yes, I'd like a big soccer ball, too.

If you are going to write on my driveway, watch out for the oil leaks that my crappy car has left.

Well I must say I don't agree with JLL but that does not mean he is wrong!

He has his priorities in order and his kids' education is important as it should be to all... but where we differ in opinion is how the education of our children should be funded...

If I am correct RDA money proposed for the stadium is not used for education. so there is where I make the distinction.
I also think that even if there ever is a vote on the stadium funding, money will not be taken from education to fund it! that is a scare tactic... a doomsayers trump card...
I believe that there should be more money spent on education but I also think that polititians use the "education funding" as there trump card. The trump card because they know that most people in this state will balk at a program or plan that will cut into education funding!

But the money we are actually talking about would not be used for Education and if you look at the quotes and comments of politicians they say things like:

It will use up money that "could be" better spent on things "like" education...
Translation: it COULD be but in all likelihood will NOT be spent on education... and of course things "like" education.
There are alot of things "like" education in the eyes of the legislature... like the "Olympics" and "Legacy Highways" and "Gateway Centers"
You get my meaning so I will stop there!

I just say that it does not matter what we each, individually, think of the legislation... it is the "public face" that we as a legitimate supporters group must maintain with all integrity and we must not perpetuate this nonsense any further...

Well, the DesNews jumped on board on this one... read it here...

I have sent letters to Bramble and to all the media contacts that I have proclaiming that the Loyalists are in no way associated with these actions and do not condone them.

It is sad that at a time we should be preping for the season, we are in crisis management mode instead.

While I admit that this event should have been a big nothing... Bramble reported the event to the media and made it a big deal.

It is my opinion he decided to use whoever did this to galvanize support for his cause by making himself a martyr of sorts.

It looks like he has succeded so far.

That article is absolutely hilarious. For those that don't remember, he wrote a very anti-soccer article a while back, and people on the forum sent him tons of flaming angry emails. So he's felt the sting of angry soccer fans, and when he mentions the german shepherds, he's probably only slightly kidding. He probably considers himself public soccer enemy #2 after the way people reacted to him.

Hilarious, but nobody would understand that unless they knew how much he'd been flamed...

Well initially I am going to take a deep breath and consider my reaction to this.
It is a rather a scathing report wrapped in humor and irony so I am going to re-visit this after I have had time to digest it and consider an apt rebuttal!

This is a subject that if it is handled correctly will work out ok... but if it isn't, it will blow up in our faces like a bucket of sh*t that will plaster us all in a negative light (not to mention smell!)

I think it is already going badly for all soccer fans in the state... So I will leave it for now and make my rebuttal at a later time...
