HDNet

i didn't think the challenge was that harsh, without seeing a replay i can't say whether or not i think it deserved red but from what i saw i thought it only deserved yellow. However, i can deal with talley getting sent off ... IF the calls were consistant. That tackle was no worse than the tackle 5-10mins earlier that talley had against him when O'Brien (is that right?) couldn't even see the ball but just stamped on talleys leg from behind, and only received a yellow. or in the second half, iforget who was involved but it looked exactly the same (to me) as the talley tackle and didn't even get a yellow.

I can deal with harsh calls and harsh cards, all you have to do is adjust your game to be less agressive ... but its the fact that we get 3/4/5 of the same incident in a game, one won't get a free kick, one will get a free kick no card, another will get a free kick and a yellow and another will get a free kick and a red.

No, he got yellow because the ref knew he screwed up by giving Talley a red earlier and didn't want RSL to be down two men. That reeked of a makeup call. I can pretty much guarantee that if Talley hadn't got a red, Harris would have.

Again, no. The tackle by O'Brien on Talley 5 minutes earlier (where O'Brien only earned a yellow) was the kind that ends careers. Talley's tackle, while flagrant and from behind, was one-footed and only clipped O'Brien's foot that was off the ground. On the other hand, O'Brien's tackle was two-footed and he went all the way through Talley's weight bearing leg. THAT'S how careers get ended. Talley's tackle deserved a yellow for being flagrant. O'Brien's tackle deserved a red for being flagrant and intent to injure.

EDIT: It looks like O'Brien succeeded in his intent to injure. Talley will have an MRI today to look for a ligament tear. But that's right, I forgot: O'Brien didn't deserve a red for his tackle. Meanwhile, when RSL plays Dallas this weekend, he will be prancing around like a reindeer on his perfectly healthy knee which he didn't injure because of that "flagrant aggressive tackle" that earned Talley a "deserved red."

Wow, Poor Talley

I didnt realize that hit was so hard on Talley.

My wife just got me into RSL just a little while ago. That was a fantastic game on Saturday.

My friends Tivo missed out on recording it. Would anyone know where I can get a copy of the game to show him?

Being new to soccer could anyone answer a question? Are the refs always so inconsistent on thier calls. I can understand not seeing a situation and having to compensate for it but some stuff is so obviously inconsistent.

Welcome, Hittem!

The problem is that the game was on HDTV. I wasn't on any of the Direct Kick channels. I sure can't afford a High Def TV.

Yes, refs even in the world's best leagues can be very inconsistent. Heck, a ref from one of the world's best leagues (The English Premiereship) forget to throw a guy out of a World Cup match after issuing 2 yellow cards.

If you hang out in E32 or maybe in E38; we can get a chant of "Palomino is better" going towards to ref.

I listened to a lot of the game on the radio; Scholesy said that Talley's red was justified.

Now that I think about it, the red card might have been justified, but I don't agree with this reasoning. The flagrant, aggressive tackle from behind probably warranted just a yellow. But the tackle was also a retaliation of O'Brien's tackle just a few minutes earlier. The ref probably felt things were getting a little out of hand and responded with a straight red card. Of course, I think O'Brien should have been ejected for his tackle, and then Talley wouldn't even have the chance to retaliate.

normally I skip my seat assignment and try and sit by the loyalists there. The chanting makes the game alot more fun and enjoyable.

Its just great to hear "get a rope, find a tree"

Looks like the MRI is not needed after all - good news for the team, great news for Talley.
