I agree there are a lot of reasons for DC United to be motivated. One reason they may be less motivated is that it's there last non-conference match of the season. Had they not already been missing so many starters this may have been a bigger factor. In this case missing those starters means missing a lot of skill. But having players on the pitch that don't normally play along with some of the other motivations previously mentioned could mean the match ends up being pretty intense.

All valid points, but it really comes down to how much RSL wants to win this game. That's what really bugged me about the loss to Colorado - with everything that was on the line, RSL played uninspired. You could tell that Colorado wanted it more, period. Soccer is so that way - the team who wants it most, puts out the best effort, usually wins. And it's got to be all 11 players, not just one or two guys who are playing hard.

If RSL plays like they want to win, they have a good chance regardless of who DC puts on the pitch. But if they play like they did against Colorado, it won't matter if DC fields the players' wives.

I_Believe_In_Kreis, do you think RSL played uninspired against LA?

No, I thought they played like they wanted a win until the goal, then I thought they let down a bit. Why?

This is one of the weirdest games I've seen all year ...there is no reason for us to lose this game.

Any chance for an update? I had to leave at half time.

1-1 Chris Klein scored in the 65th to equalise off a great pass from Cunningham, but after that some lacked conviction and most lacked connectivity. Andy Williams turned in a great performance again and I think for the short time Douglas was on he played very well. A point is better than a slap in the face with a wet fish but I think we could have and should have won that.

Thanks. I found the broadcast on the radio finally and caught the last 15 mins or so. Who was doing the play by play on the radio with you today?

Honestly, I thought DCU showed better play and should have won the match. But, RSL showed enough quality that the draw was reasonable, if not totally deserved (and I'll definitely take it, particularly after being down at the half). If DCU doesn't win the MLS Cup this year, well, it will be due to a total breakdown in form, because even without 4 of the best players they looked very very good. Crisp passing in the midfield and creativity at the front.

It was a local guy called frank Hanrahan, he was fun to work with.

I think it's always tough to play against DC but doubly hard at JFK so a point is certainly welcome and a good result that we certainly needed, and would be happy with any time of the season, but with the playoffs being the goal I thought we could have squeaked a result. i agree that DC look good even with some great players missing, but the defence is still the weakness, but they have a very solid midfield that protects that weakness very well. Overall not a bad performance, but I don't think a great one either.
