I watched the last part of the match on the Colorado "Altitude" station. They showed Pablo acting like a weenie. It didn't seem to blatantly offensive, though you could tell the fans had gotten to him big time. I believe Freeman had several choice words late in the match directed to E33 as well. It's good that we can potentially affect the outcome of the game by getting into the heads of opposing players, but that's part of the game. The players, I feel, should be professional enough to take it and not react that negatively - and most of them do successfully. Having said that, I'm not one that likes to participate in chants/cheers/yells that are derogatory in nature - even though it may enhance RSL's ability to compete against the opposition.

As for the match itself, it was an extremely physical game, and I agree with noxum in that the rivalry is really beginning to take place. I can officially say that I despise the Rapids!! Originally, I hated the Chivas more and felt that the Rapids rivalry was more artifically conceived than naturally so. But after this game, the Rapids have surpassed the Chivas in my eyes.

I completely agree with this.

I watched the game later last night too.
One of the things I found odd was as soon as the crapids scored the announcers started explaining and defending their team's decision to not kick the ball out. I think even before they credited the scorer and assist. I'm thinking, thou doest protest too much, crapid guy.
Gargan and Freeman could help out the U. of CO this season.

RSL could have erased some of the bitterness with a shot that didn't go directly to Cannon.

Interesting postgame. Wonder when the league will write Pablo's apology and if he'll have to read it in a monotone voice or it's just a release.

Some thin skin on the crapid supporters. They should talk to their classless team that they felt insecure as a result of the poor level of sportsmanship.

Clavijo again reiterated what he shared with the RCB earlier, that we have tremendous fan support in our stadium. I think each team having it's own stadium will only add to the experience.

I love the interaction with players and the home field advantage that we strive to provide. I hope that we can continue to grow the game and expose others to the beautiful game.

about home field advantage..

On labor day weekend, with both Utah and BYU (and I guess Utah State) starting their [american]football season, 17k came to the RSL match. That had me smiling all weekend.

my brother and his wife were staying at the same hotal as the crapids this weekend. neiher of them are big soccer fans but they came to the game with us and i think they loved the passion.

anyway, i explained to them the gentleman's rule of injury that exists and they seemed to agree with it. that is where the stroy gets good. after the game they were in the lobby as the crapids players came back, changed, and left for a night on the town. my brother was in the elevator with a couple players he said he thought were starters, and he asked one of them if the rule existed. every player nodded their head and explained to them the rule amd how it "just aint right" to play on. he asked them after if they always follwed it and they all remarked that they ALWAYS did, and that was just something you HAD to do.

just thought it was extremely funny. he said he really wanted to ask them why they didn't follow it at the game but he lacked the "huevos", which we all know that pablito apparently has now.

Edaw33, your story actually is a beautiful example of the situation. How exactly that gentleman's agreement is defined let alone followed if viewed a little differently by everyone. If anything, it would show that they felt they were following it as they should.

It's a bit like asking people if they'd ever speed or drive so fast that it's reckless. The law may saw that 20 or 25mph or over the speed limit constitutes reckless driving no matter what. But in terms of what people as individuals view as reckless beyond that is going to vary. Some people think going 10 mph isn't a bit deal. Some think 20mph. Some people would think even going 5mph in a residential neighborhood as reckless. Others may say anything over the speed limit at all, even 1mph, is reckless in a school zone. Someone else would poo-poo that and say 5mph over even a school zone is okay. Someone else may argue that if you're out in the middle of the desert on your way to Wendoveron I80, that 120mph shouldn't be a big deal.

Everyone agrees that at some point they should put the ball out of play as part of a gentlemen's agreement. It's just that there are a lot of variations as to what they feel exactly constitutes that agreement.

Yes and it's pretty obvious that the Crapids have a different definition than everyone else.

Yeah, it's called "get a shot off on goal first, and if you happen to retain possession after the shot, go ahead and kick it out."

It's a looser interpretation of the rule, kinda like the guy that thinks it's OK to go 20 over in a school zone. Of course 99% of the rest of society will think that's ridiculous. But hey, the rule is open for interpretation, right?

I wish our guys would have done something to get the ball back so we could kick it out ourselves.

Listen: we can't trust the refs, we can't trust the opposing team. All we can do is trust ourselves. Get our shots in, play D even with a man on the pitch.

This was a rivalry game, and the teams both felt that. I don't think 'rado was going to kick the ball out, nor do I expect them to. they're trying to win a game. We just needed to nut up, get the ball back and kick it out ourselves.
