Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe this is the Geneva Steel property proposed by Checketts.

Good hell, I can't believe we're doing this again....."waaaaaah, I don't want a stadium in _______!" Don't you people understand the direness of our situation? We need a stadium, even if it's in Wendover, or this team is gone in 2008. Ever heard the phrase "beggers can't be choosers?" You should be damn grateful there are other locations (even in the dreaded Utah County) still willing to entertain RSL.

Any attendance you lose from the north you'll make up for in people from Utah County. There's lots of soccer down there, and heaven knows there are tons of kids.

Geneva Park (Pony Ride Field?) would let us bring in bring in water bottles, right?

That's what's in there. Water. Yeah. Water.

Agree 100%. The Growth in Utah County is unbeleivable !!! I live in Cedar Hills, and there are homes going up everywhere. I think it is a great Idea!!!

I would drive to Geneva... Right at the end of Center street as well... that would be perfect for a huge Gateway style mega-development and heaven knows it will look better and be better for your health than Geneva steel was...
And like IBIK said... Beggars and all....

it is getting serious and i will bet that those folks that could not cope with sandy are crapping their pants now!

LOL

I would be, but I don't know what/whom to believe right now... you could tell me that the team is locating to the North Pole and Santa Claus is the new coach and I'd probably be like, "okay".

Santa Claus would make an excellent choice. He could threaten the players with "naughty" status if they didn't play well. What a great motivator! Is he available?

In terms of access, that wouldn't be a bad spot. Three freeway extis lead to that site.

I got the feeling that the property was offered gratis. That would be a good spur to develop the area.

That Utah County offer came from Sandy-based Anderson Development, which is cleaning up 1,700 acres to pave the way for development at the defunct steel mill.
"Yes, there have been some preliminary discussions about the Geneva property," said attorney Michael Hutchings, a partner in Anderson Development.
Hutchings said the company - whose attorneys include House Speaker Greg Curtis, R-Sandy - offered RSL free land for a stadium.
"We're businessmen; we see value there," Hutchings said. "[Sandy Mayor] Tom Dolan saw great economic value. We think he was right."
