Couple of thoughts from the teleconference:

1) Dave admitted that the public does not undertand the intricacies of what is happening; i.e. that their own taxes aren't being used, etc.

Suddenly, I see lots of Press Releases, emails to supporters, teleconferences with the media after the council shot this down.

Wouldn't all of this PR activity have been much more effective if it happened before the council vote to help educate the ignorant public that Dave acknowledges exists?

2) Utah County? Wow. Who woulda thunk it?

Thanks for the reports all. There is some more conversation about this call on BS.

Thank heavens the team is actually saying/doing SOMETHING instead of letting all the fans collective tempers fly out the window any longer.

it should! I can only imagine what sl7vk and RSLFM over on BigSoccer are thinking now...

"Hey, maybe we should have supported Sandy after all. I sure as hell don't want the team in Utah county! It's the only thing worse than Sandy itself!"

Bah. It won't be in Utah County. That's totally ridiculous. Dave is just mentioning it to let people know Salt Lake isn't their only option. The fact that he'd never seriously consider the UC is totally irrelevant.

That is a nice chunk of real estate in need of revitalization. That was the rationale behind first the DC and later the Gateway.

Utah County would be better than Cleveland, but might be tough to keep attendance as high. I think it's going to have to be Salt Lake County.

OR North Salt Lake in Davis County...
Then it feels like downtown and Davis gets the windfall...
