Over the last three years, the American team has asked Real Madrid to visit their city on numerous ocassions. -- RM Press Release
Dave's persistence pays off!!!

The Spanish version of the press release is even more explicit. It states that RSL considers RM as its benchmark, model, mentor, etc.

Fixed your post.

RM's good and all that, but some of the things they were saying.....wow. Having them come is nice and whatnot, but is it fulfilling a three year dream? Hardly. They seem a bit full of themselves.

I could actually imagine Uncle Dave using these points as an argument for RM to come. You guys da best! Really! We need you...

Also, it doesn't seem too fantastic to imagine Dave trying to get this fixture set up since he bought the Utah franchise.

I mean, have you ever heard him talk about RM? Like they are outta dis world, man!.... The best thing since sliced bread, etc.

Real Madrid, one of the most storied franchises in international soccer, will play an exhibition match against Real Salt Lake in Utah on Saturday, Aug. 12, the Salt Lake Tribune has learned.

Quote:
the match - which was first reported by The Tribune - have been finalized.

Since when does the Trib have exclusive access to this story?

Sounds like they're leaning towards LES if they haven't already made that decision.

And the funniest line of all:
Quote:
Ivan Bravo, the international development manager for Real Salt Madrid

Wow. Uncle Dave has some real pull!!! He can even make RM change their name to pattern it after us!!

I trust he is briefing his people on the Utah culture...

Here is an updated version of the newspaper article.

Here's the RSL press release.
