Somewhat related to the 3 years issue...does anyone know how many tickets have been sold? If we can't sell out this game, it seems like attendance will only decrease in the future. Also, seeing that the game has yet to sell out I am feeling upset with the FO for making average fans buy 2 tickets to Real SLC games. It seems like that strategy may have alienated the average fan and made it more difficult to sell out the game.

You guys have it all wrong. The message got lost in translation. What they are trying to say is that Checketts has been asking RM to come each year for the last 3 years...

I thought of that as a possibility but Checketts hasn't owned or RSL that long.

Believe me, his negotiations with RM started way before he signed the check to purchase RSL. While we were debating RSL's eventual name, he had made up his mind light years before...

Go back to the previous RM press releases of this match and you'll see that they are simply saying that Checketts has been asking them for three years now to come.

Obviously, his original intent was to have RM come at the very outset...

Pure speculation here, but he may have even wanted to get a friendly with Real Madrid here before he decided to purchase an MLS franchise. Maybe to play another MLS team like he's doing in Seattle.

I understood it that way as well, that he had been asking for the last three years, not that the Galacticos would be coming for the next 3.

yep the spanish is pretty clear that RSL has been asking Madrid to come for 3 years...ps...about my earlier question anyone know where the ticket sales are for the game?

whoops, I was going off of their spanish translation. I looked at their English page.
