Let's keep things in perspective. We played a LandyCakes and Albwrong-less LA team whose recently transferred stars got in at 2 am that morning.

LA hasn't scored a goal in its last 3 matches and has been outscored 8-0 in its last three.

I think JLL makes a valid point. I predicted a 4-1 loss to LA and I am happily surprised by the result.

If RSL fans didn't have the right to feel pessimistic going into that match, who the heck DOES have the right?

I call that form of support "realistic." ๐Ÿ˜‰

Watson will get his turn. I'm not sure why we would have brought in another forward with a 2-0 lead, though...

Great win guys. I am very happy for the team and for us sad fans that have endured. Of course the road is not paved with roses or even hapless Gals, but its a nice start and gets some monkeys off our back.

Players that impressed me:
Talley, finally in the right spot, made great decisions. I said it before, he was Valakari's sub last year at Dallas, and also played wing. Thats where he should stay.
Ballouchy- ditto about el natural position.
Torres-speed and aggresive, thats what we need in the back.
Harris-his aggressive nature is great against a semi-punk like Marshall. Hard for the ref to card you when the other guy is worse.
Novak& Forko- hooray! Midfielders as defenders sometimes works. Novak proved it.

Not saying get rid of them but they are not starters:
Akwari-still hasn't impressed me

Kreis was busy playing defender methinks.

We still have a long way to go, but for the first time our club played 90 minutes of committed, organized soccer. No small achievement.

Now, can we do it again?

KC is missing two and a half key players. The biggest loss in Conrad.

They have the most infuriatingly disciplined tactical approach to the game, thanks to Bob Gansler.

But if you saw their loss to DC on Saturday, they have very little offensive punch without Johnson and Wolff.

We get them on the fuzzy concrete at altitude. If we play the way we did yesterday . . .

Hey, did someone mention negative & boring tactics? It's me; Mr Worst Case Scenario Man! I can't hang out with Garrison Keillor all the time.

Did you see Sealy miss that sitter? What in the world? If Sealy could have scored into that wide open net; that could have changed the game.

If we can win against the Bunker Bob; then we will have done something.

IBIK's match thoughts

So all along it turns out Eddie Pope was our problem. Who'da thunk it? ๐Ÿ™‚ Here are some of my thoughts to get your minds churning:

- This was such a great win, in that we showed we can win without playing terrific soccer, and win convincingly on top of that. While it wasn't our best game, we got the points because this was our best game in regards to playing as a team.

- Why's everyone bagging on Jason? He was our best defender for the final 10. While that's not usually the domain of a forward, Kreis is an experienced MLS vet who knows what it takes to win, and does it. He'd stick himself in goal if the situation called for it. Besides, he wasn't that transparent on offense......he got an (uncredited) assist on the final goal.

- In lieu of Survivor: Mustachio, we should have a $600 pot between Klein and Ballouchy. The money goes to whoever gets a shot on goal first. Klein looks like he's trying too hard to pick corners. Ballouchy's issue is mental - he's shooting like he's afraid to miss. I feel his pain. My advice to Mehdi would be, bomb away dude. Shoot until every Samba Gringa guy is in the hospital. Eventually they'll start going in.

- Novak is living proof that effort is more important than talent. After a shaky first 10, he was solid on Martino.

- KC is a winnable game because they have the same issues as LA (minus the coach in hot water): An offense that's MIA and missing a key defender. Although what's left of KC is better than what's left of LA, we're home this week. I don't think RSL wins by 3, but a win is in the cards, or a tie at the very least. If we can get on a roll, look out.

- Speaking of that, won't it be funny if Eddie and Douglas get back from the world cup having lost their starting spots? ๐Ÿ™‚

All in all I was so pleased by this game. We looked well-coached and there were no obvious holes. This is the time to pick up tons of points in a hurry.

That's what's known as a "win-win-win" solution...

Not to rag on Ellinger, but did you see how totally disinterested he seemed near the end of the match?

It almost looked like Mellor was trying to get him excited. :D
