I think a 60 million investment that brings in a crowd that is the second highest attending for all of MLS 2005 is not a bad idea.

I think the 2007/08 attendance will be even higher. This is why: I simply can't imagine that LESS people will want to see a professional team play in their own brand new stadium. Can you imagine if the Jazz had played in the E-center and then moved to the Delta center, that attendance for their games would go down? Me neither.

Now, granted, next year may be lower attendance. RSL isn't going to be in a new stadium, no excitement there; RSL will start out with the second worst record in MLS as a history, and excitement there may be lacking as well.

So, what I'm saying is that the poll is interesting in that it shows more people would be likely to attend a game, and the stadium will bring more people than before. I expect it to sell out very easily on opening day.

The numbers, albeit very raw and with probably a bit of a margin of error, indicate that putting the stadium in SLC would have been, in your words and logic, very, very, VERY lame.

sigh

most anticipated development of the last five years

$60,000,000

Political all stars at all levels

Intense public interest in team

Checketts calls it "visionary"

Huntsman calls it "inspired"

And a QUARTER of residents are LESS LIKELY TO ATTEND because it's in Sandy.

D@mn right it's lame.

Also, a net 6% of the total population would be rather significant. Remember, this would not be a 6% increase in attendance, unless you're assuming that most of those polled already attend -- they don't. We've probably had 60-70,000 unique fans come to games this year (wild guess?), and 6% of a base of one million residents in the area (which is a low estimate) would double that. The only reason that news like this wouldn't make me do backflips is because I hurt my back last time I tried one.

And 30% are MORE LIKELY TO ATTEND. Or did you miss that part?

"sigh", indeed.

So RSL, Dolan, and Curtis have a clear profit of 6%.

That's roughly $10,000,000 per point.

This deal was sheer genius.

+6% is not a lot.

Guaranteed that if the Stadium were built downtown there would not be a quarter of the residents less likely to attend. The 30% is because there is a stadium being built not because it is in Sandy. The margin would be a lot higher if it were downtown.

Wow...I can't believe what a fuss this has become. I would support the team if they built a stadium anywhere from Ogden to Provo.

Of all the things to whine about......... :slobber:
