Player on trial with RSL

I have it from the Front Office in Minnesota that Defensive Midfielder Matt Schmidt who played this season with the Thunder and is contracted to the Milwaukee Wave MISL team is on trial at RSL following the end of the Thunder's season.

Interesting. We'll have to see how that turns out.

I used to get excited about each player that came and left, thinking that the newest guy would be what we needed to start winning. I've matured a little since then and learned to be skeptical until the new guy proves himself. I'm still excited, just reserving judgment.

Any word on when he will actually show up?
I didn't see any new faces today at practice.

Matt Schmidt, huh? Get gone Cutler!!! All we really need is a D-mid, maybe some other sub-mids. I hope that Watson keeps his starting spot, too.

I'm sure you're aware that there's more than stats, but yeah, as a DM he doesn't catch the eye with goals and such.

...4 goals out of 21 shots isn't too bad come to think of it....

But really, Schmidty is unspectacular, as you'd expect from a defensive midfielder, but he was a great midseason pickup for us, and even if he doesn't play for RSL, I think that he'd benefit the team in practice; he's got a great attitude and work ethic and a model professional. Quiet and focused, unlike the rest of the Thunder squad this season.

I'm afraid not; I was told this at the end of the year Fan Banquet; I was kind of busy and had had a couple; I'll ask the next time I speak to the guy.

Yeah, I'm aware that the stats that are kept are not designed to show up the quality of a D Mid. And I'm sure that there must be something there, or they wouldn't even be looking at him. I was just pointing out, that from our perspective, there really isn't anything to go by. We don't know anything about him (unless someone has seen him play).

Thanks for the scoop. HOw do you think Schmidt grew as a player since his first time out with the Thunder. I'm not talking this year so much as when he played with them a couple years ago.

How would you rate Schmidt compared to Freddy Juarez?
