I didn't see any new faces today at practice.

I was told today that he is already in Salt Lake City. I wasn't able to ascertain if he's currently contracted to Minnesota or Milwaukee, however, which might bear on whether or not he can be signed this year (not that there's much time left)

How would you rate Schmidt compared to Freddy Juarez?

I'm afraid that when Schmidty was last with the Thunder I lacked any transport to the 'burbs to see the Thunder at the NSC. This year, I rated him poorly when he first got to the club and was deployed on the left wing. He looked lost and seemed to be pulling out of tackles. When moved back into the middle he became a rock and I would say was as solid as Juarez, though perhaps slightly more of a two-way player. His attacking game didn't excel this year, though. I'm thinking that some of this might have to do with the switch from indoor to outdoor, something which a lot of Milwaukee Wave United players complained about last year and on which they blamed their poor start to the season last year.
But Schmidty's hard-nosed and keeps his head down as a real professional, something we really needed on our young team this year.

I'm glad to see this topic being discussed.

I was told that he can be expected at the Nov. 12th Milwaukee Wave (indoor) home opener. It was suggested that Schmidt didn't take a crack at RSL earlier because RSL was still (mathematically at least) in playoff contention.

Any idea on why Schmidt is getting looked at and not Chad Dombrowski? Schmidt did get subbed in late at the USOC match and had a goal and an assist (so he probably got on RSL's radar), but it seems to me that Dombroski would have been a better fit. I think Tarley would have campaigned for Dombroski too if he was given any say.

Yes he was at Pracice today.
I didn't get a good look at him so I can't say how well he plays.

Chad was nursing a couple of injuries at the end of the season, so that might be part of the reason. He had a sore back and either a groin or hamstring injury after the Galaxy game. I don't know if he's going for surgery or anything, but I would guess that's part of the reason. Chad was a great pickup for us this year.

Matt Broadhead played for the Crew Reserves Sunday. Is he keeping in shape or getting ready for MISL play?

Can anyone tell me if Schmidty played in the reserves match on Sunday? MLSnet hasn't updated their reserves information. 👎:

I don't think he did. There weren't any players I hadn't seen before.

Is he on an MISL roster?
