before you go postal and the last call of the game, rememember that if they had overturned the "fumble" it would still be TCU ball, 1st and Goal on the 1 inch line because they ruled the play dead.

Yeah, fumbles and illegal picks . . . and TCU sweeps the State of Utah to go 2-0 in conference.

Hey, I'm a Utah fan but even I feel for the Y to lose that way.

Yeah, even though I'm a Ute fan I felt I had to root for the Y this time, just to keep my team in the running for the conference championship. The ideal situation would have been one where BYU floundered the whole game, and barely squeaked by with a win at home. It almost looked like I was going to get my wish until the Y managed to screw up a PAT. Now I'm not sure who's going to beat TCU, but at least I get bragging rights over all my Cougar buddies at work!

how can you recover from that?

There were lots of defensive problems, but we lost the game on offense.
We had an 18 pt lead with 5 minutes left in the third quarter and proceeded to throw the ball on every down for the next 3 drives.
I don't mind it if my team plays well and just gets beat. It's when my team beats itself with sheer stupidity that I get pissed. At least Bronco didn't get on the post-game show and talk about how inexperienced his team was and how much they are improving. He at least seems to not be OK with losing.

What? you're going to get in Dysko's grill about this?!? Looking at the numbers BYU did alot better against TCU than Utah did. Utah only managed 317 total yards against TCU, BYU nearly doubled that with 614. BYU only gave up 127 yards rushing against TCU (3.4 yards per carry), Utah gave up 228 (5.0 yards per carry). Utah only managed 20 points against TCU, BYU 50.

The rivalry stuff is great but, please, let's be realistic. Comparing results against common opponents is usually not productive. There's no good way to control for variables like weather, homefield, short week, and all those other little things that impact the outcome of a game.

Here's the big fact--TCU beat both the U and the Y in OT games to go 2-0 in conference. Whether you're red or you're blue, you're looking up at the Lobos, the Pokes, and the Frogs.

Whoa! Couldn't disagree more...

There were 1, maybe 2 bad play calls, but you can't just start running the ball halfway through the third quarter. Especially if you are BYU. And especially if your opponent has been shutting down very good running backs all year (Adrian Peterson?). No way does it make sense for BYU to even attempt running out the clock that early. If I'm not mistaken, after Bronco decided to go for it on 4th down from our own 20 and we made it, we ran Curtis Brown 3 straight times. Four and out. Sure, it ran a minute and a half off of the clock, but we gave the ball right back to TCU.

Agreed, just making a point that there wasn't a whole lot of substance behind calling Dysko out. If I'm a Cougar fan I feel a whole lot better about things after the BYU-TCU game then I do If I'm a Utah fan after the Utah-TCU game. Offense has been BYU's downfall the past couple years. Not to say they're defense has been stellar. If I'm a BYU fan I say OK now we know we can put 600 plus yards and 50 plus points up on a good team and if our defense gets healthy we'll be OK.

TCU beats OU 17-10; then, the next week TCU loses to SMU 21-10.

Does that mean that SMU is better than OU? I think not.

OU isn't that good this year (at least not compared to the last few years when they were among the best). After losing to TCU, they struggled in Norman against Tulsa. (The Golden Hurricanes had a chance to tie the game on a 2pt conversion midway through the 4th quarter.) The next week UCLA beat the hell out of the Sooners.
