"When Hart went down...so did the season." truer words were never spoken. I'm afraid for what the rest of the season will bring, starting with MSU. I'm afraid MSU will torch our backfield.

I think you missed my point. The only coach in BYU history to have a winning record against the Utes (except for one time winner W. Floyd Millet in 1942) was LaVell Edwards. By contrast, five Utah coaches have winning records against BYU, and four of those have a better W-L percentage than LE. So, let's review: --Before LaVell, BYU was a loser to Utah. --After LaVell, BYU is a loser to Utah(3 out of 4 so far). --The series is 80 games long, not 29. Or the last four, or the last ten. --The overall series is heavily in Utah's favor. So, yes, the Edwards years are the exception in the 80 game history of the series. Can BYU win without him? We'll see. So far, the results are not good. Best news is that we get to check on progress every November. And to all, remember, it's just a game and nothing more. __________________

I was at that game, and it was a crappy Michigan team. I supported the WAC so I supported BYU. But if I'd known how that season would be the ultimate Cougar cliche I sure wouldn't have. Michigan has earned the whuppin' I expect MSU will lay on them. __________________

Gotta love that guy! He spoke at BYU Hawaii once and was drunk when he did it.

Okay, so: First off, I don't like the pointyball. After attending the U/Airforce game last week, even less so. Footy has ruined me for other sporting events, I'm afraid. I kept waiting for someone in the first few minutes to start up "Welcome to Rice-Eccles, boys," and no one did--but then, NO ONE DID at the Columbus game, either! (Please bring back that chant. Make sure you sing it sometime in the first five minutes, so it might have relevance.) The only singing was that weird song about Utah men & musses. (And to be fair, I attended the Zoo and hated that "Who let the Cougars out" song, too.) Update the lyrics, man! If there weren't references to "23-skiddoo," I'll be jiggered.
And all the standing around! You'd think everyone was Mathis out there. Wow. I just slandered the guy who's my online namesake. It must be really late. My point? Don't think there is one, but if there were, it was that I was probably more entertained by my niece dancing on the bleachers to make noise than anything that happened on the field. Soccer really is the beautiful game. No disrespect to the U fans--you're doin' all right lately, and really, who cares about the Zoo's team. Oh, that's right, everyone south of the Mason-Dixon...er, Point of the Mountain. Reason one why I live in SL. There's just no talking to those people. :punk:

Now that I have enjoyed most of a full MLS season sitting in the NE corner, as well as being one of the RAF Blitzz support group in the first 5 years of this decade, I find myself enjoying other sports less and less. Just not the same atmosphere. Ute pointy-ball crowd does a decent job cheering at the right times (particularly when the defense needs a big play) but chanting and singing the entire game, especially if the home side is behind just isn't going to happen in any pointy-ball stadium.

Actually, I think they played extremely well against Wisconsin, nothing to be ashamed of there.
