THAT'S NOT WHAT I MEANT!😲

I was speaking of soccer related stuff, only. It was not intended as a put down, or even a joke at your expense. I only meant that your soccer related activities have been curtailed. :p

Rich here, and it's good to jump on board with such an interesting group. I've never been much of a poster and I've not been impressed with most soccer boards, but you're off to a good start so I'm getting on the train.

I'm 42, married for 20 years (to the same woman) with three kids, two in college (all of us play or coach soccer). I went to high school in Salt Lake, although I've moved, on average, every two years since I was born. I finished college in SoCal, but started moving again as a Marine. I'm still a Marine, and currently stationed in San Diego (although I'm posting this from Japan).

I've been a soccer player and fan since my early teens when I lived in London, cheered for Chelsea, and watched the World Cup '74 from Germany on the BBC. I guess that makes me an old timer, but it also means I've got a full appreciation for how far we've come in the U.S. I still follow the European game, of course. Favorite teams include Barcelona, Borussia Monchengladbach, and Udinese, among others. I also support any team from the University of Utah.

I've had season or partial season tickets with three MLS teams--DC, San Jose, and the Galaxy. When I retire from the Corps I expect to be in line to buy season tickets in Salt Lake. Until then, my family and I be at the HDC to yell for RSL and support the team wherever and whenever they play.

Welcome to the board. We're glad to have you. We think we've got a great team and are looking forward to cheering, too.

Is it April yet?

I guess I should do this since I'm new around here. My name is Scott (yes, another one but I've been dealing with that my entire life as I'm sure other Scotts can attest to). I'm 34 years old. I make my living programming computers and work downtown SLC. I grew up in Ogden, but I live in West Jordan now. I am currently married to my second wife. I have two kids that live with their mother up in Ogden, so I travel up there quite frequently.

I started playing soccer when I was about 5. My grandfather and grandmother were from Holland and he played soccer his entire life so that is what got me interested. I played competitively up through high school (we won 2 state championships and came in second once in the 4 years I was there). After high school, I didn't have the time to commit to playing competitively anymore so just played recreationally until I tore my ACL a few years ago playing indoor. I haven't really played anything organized since then.

I have been a big fan of soccer all my life, but have never really picked a favorite team. Until now. I just watched whatever team happened to be playing on tv at the time. (BTW, I drove my wife crazy watching spanish broadcasts of games. 🙂 ) It will be really great to have an actual team to cheer for. I'm very excited for April.
