Bust? I'm sorry but in his last match he scored within 5 minutes.

Well, kindof. He scored within 5 minutes of entering in that game, showed up his coach (running over, pointing to his watch (confirmed) grabbing himself (allegedly)) and then was put in the starting lineup for the next game when he "failed to impress" (generously) or "stunk up the field" depending on whose account you want to believe. Basicaly his coach gave him enough rope to hang himself, he did, and now we get Clint.

The biggest issue is which Clint we get? Circa 2000-2001 or post knee injury #2? Will Clint recognize that this is his last chance to save what was an extremely promising career, or will he fall back on his habits learned in the last couple of years of playing lazy, waiting for others to do the work? Has he fallen so far that he can only be effective as a poacher (which, along with Kreis, would give us 2 of them) or can he still create for himself and others?

Questions...questions. 😕

Interesting, I have never heard that he "stunk it up" in his follow up match for Hannover '96. Can you site a source?
Thanks

Mostly by my admittedly faulty memory. Check the BS Hannover pages. I recall they had information on that game and on Clint's contributions, or lack thereof, in that game.

Hannover 96 say this

A loose translation from BabelFish.com

"Clint Mathis changes into major Soccer League Now it is official. Hanover 96 communicates the change of its player Clint Mathis into US-American major League Soccer. Clint Mathis will follow the new MLS mLS-Franchise material[Real] Salt Lake town center. After Mathis was nevertheless used in the past season sixteen time and obtained four hits, he could not in this play time into the master eleven spielen. So remained oneself it with four further employments, which were crowned by the Jokertor against Schalke. We wish Clint in the USA all to property and many gates."

Also in USA Today

"The Bundesliga club said Wednesday that Mathis, a member of the United States national team, will join expansion team Real Salt Lake"

Now all we need is RSL and MLS to say so and we are there... Y'all... :D

Babelfish is only a perfect translation device in the Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy! :D

I am sure that if I were to pay for the translation it would be better... it is free so far and you get the idea...
There are other updated references, so the german one can be taken a little bit tongue in cheek now!
