RSL FO says again this week that we are at the front of the line to get him. I guess SJ would like him but we aren't dealing.

And SJ now has a shell of a team, so unless RSL wants SJ's drafts (all of them) there is no reason to trade.

Some one may be able to explain it better than me but I will give it a go... please correct me if I am wrong!

RSL has first pick of any potential MLS players, because seedy cheetos got first dibs on the expansion draft. It is my understanding that even tho Mathis will not be officially part of the draft in January, we can use our first pick to acquire him. He will obviously be one of the hot names in January along with players like Kasey Keller (if he does not find another premiership team)

If I understand it correctly MLS, not individual teams, contracts the players so all players under contract to MLS, that do not have a team, will be available for the draft, regardless of thier history or experience!

Steve Pastorino said at the expansion draft that "If Clint Mathis contracts with MLS, RSL will exercise its first pick to acquire him."
In a nutshell if he(Mathis) is available he will be in an RSL uniform!

The guys at Trolly Corners say that if CM comes to MLS we will get him.

I think it might be an allocation, not sure, but they were emphatic that we have the right.
