$160 for the forum license

$15/month for hosting. This is my personal server, not my business server. Also, this server also hosts theloyalists.com

$15/year for the domain. I use Dotster, GoDaddy sucks.

So so far the forum still hasn't paid for itself. But I don't care. It was about helping out. And so you know, any money made from this "capitalist" endevour is going to go to cool stuff for loyalists. I have a few ideas in the works but that will happen after the site is paid for. Believe me, this forum has not, and will not, line my pockets.

Also, there are no customers on this site. No one said you had to give your $6, you chose to do that, it's volunteer. I'm thankful that you did, but I don't owe you anything. I spent my time and my money getting this going for the love of the game, and for the love of the team and its colorful fans. If it makes you feel better I could give you your $6 back and then you won't have anything to complain about.

If only I had rep to give. That was classic.

Geez, for a future millionaire you sure keep track of a few bucks pretty closely.

Okay, I'll leave aside the fact that you are getting screwed on domain name registration and hosting. If you haven't broken even yet, my guess is that you are what, 10 - 15 people short? If you don't reach that by one year from the start of this forum (October, right?), I'll chip in what ever it takes to make up the difference on the condition that you stop taking yourself so seriously.

Or I will volunteer to host the forums for free and give everyone the benefits of being a site supporter. Again, on the condition that you rachet down the pomposity a few notches.

Maybe it is just me, but wasn't that post in response to a direct personal attack?

No, I was saying that if you are going to go around asking for money, you should (especially in public) be a little more responsive to people. He can do whatever he wants, but it sure is a bad business practice to be so outright hostile to people who have willingly given you money, even if it is just 6 bucks. Maybe this is why he has not even broken even yet. It is not because of a lack of excellent information on, or interest in, these forums.

I'm just curious why you think that someone is pompous simply because they have a different opinion than you do?

I actually happen to agree with Neil. I'm getting pretty tired of all the posts that are simply begging for rep. The board is getting pretty big now as it is. It's not uncommon to go away for a couple of hours to return to 50-100 posts. It becomes a little tedious when a quarter of those posts are simply about people begging for rep. It wastes my time.

Since you offered to host this site for free, you obviously have the money to host your own site, so I say go right ahead and do it. You even have loyalists.org if you want. That way you can have as much rep as you want every single day, dole it out to everyone, and talk about it all the time. But if you want to post here, maybe you should respect the site administrator's wishes. After all, nothing at all is stopping you from making your own rep whore site if you want and no one is forcing you to remain here if things just aren't fun enough for you without begging for rep.

Does this post make me pompous too? Probably. Oh well.
