Loyalists Trademark Symbol

Hi all,
Since Wednesday I have been trying to think of some symbol that might make the loyalists stand out at all matches and club functions, and make all loyalists recognizable to everyone. This is in addition to the Loyalist tee shirt.

Obviously it is not my place to say what is what but I thought I would throw out a suggestion or two and try to drum up either support or some better suggestions. Well at the very least start a debate.

My initial idea is, along with the loyalist tee-shirt, to go to an army/navy shop and pick up a nice red "military style" beret. (A beret is not just french so let's get that notion out of the way right up front. German, English, UN and even American Military units wear berets.)
Those pins that the RSL staff were wearing at the last two functions would fit nicely in the badge area of a beret. (They are available for about $5 from RSL. I got mine at the expansion draft.)

Red being one of the team colors and the loyalists tee-shirts I am assuming are going to be blue, So a nice red beret would fit into the color scheme. If I am not mistaken... there are no other supporters groups in the league wearing berets so it would be unique.

This is just an idea and I realize it may not appeal to everyone. I just thought I would throw the idea out there and see what response it would get.

This would be a good place to discuss this and other ideas people may have.
So let's get crackin' so everyone will have input and give everyone time to decide which is best and get there gear sorted before April.

:D

😎

I have no objection to the idea. It is a good place to put that pin. And it would be distinctive, I think. But the red berets I've seen have all been a much brighter red, and we'd be better with "Claret" red. It might be possible to make the berets, then we could get any color we wanted. I'll look into that, my wife does a lot of sewing for the theater in Spanish Fork, so we might even have patterns. She would probably know if they exist anyway.

I think it would be great to have our own custom made in RSL red... fingers crossed.

I was also concerned with the shade of red available for berets but I figured I would look for the closest match.

BUT... your idea is much better

🙂

I like the image of what you're suggesting, but I don't think it would work too well logistically. Here's why:

(1) Real berets, I believe, are made from wool. These games are going to be, essentially, summertime games. It's like wearing a scarf during summer: too hot!

(2) Since we're sitting on the sunny side of the stadium, people will probably want to be wearing baseball hats if anything on their heads, to protect their eyes from the sun.

Just my thoughts. 🙂

Oh, and p.s. (3) I've never found berets to fit comfortably on my head. They always feel like they're falling off. My own fault, I know, but still...

I'm going to go ahead and vote no thanks on the beret thing, but I like the idea of coming up with something.

I think berets would look really really cool en masse. Montgjules brings up some good concerns... maybe if they don't cost too much we could do it for only the chilly games of the year. That would be very unique and distinct, let's keep thinking about it anyway.

That is a good find but pretty expensive... I have seen them as low as $13.00

there are more places and I have not checked Bob's Army Navy or any other local places.
I will check around and post what I find here.
Also like Jim's idea if we can find a nice pattern and correct color.

Watch this space...

I think after 2002, this town has had it with barets. I'll be wearing a gold crown or a red scally cap.

Welcome to the forum SOS!

I am not familiar with berets in 2002. I assume it is something to do with the olympics. I was in the UK then so I didn't get my fill... 😉

I have a top hat w/ stars and stripes print that is pretty cool.
I am still looking around for beret offerings locally (with little luck) I have pretty much moved on to some other types of hats. Unless I come across the perfect beret I will go with the top hat or a jester hat in team colors or red white and blue (again if I can find one)
