❓ Name of new stadium?

What would it take to avoid corporate sponsorship in the naming of our new stadium? I just cringe at the idea of Zion's Bank Stadium or Albertson's Field. I would like to think that there are enough advertising dollars in soccer (jerseys, sideline ads etc) without coporate omnipresence in our stad's name. I like the following ideas:

Salt Lake's Royal Court
The Peaks
Wasatch Field
Let's get some dialouge here. What does everyone think?

I normally cringe too (Minute Maid Park what the..??) but I wouldn't cringe as violently as normal if our Stadium was sponsored, simply because I know it would bring in desperately needed $$ to RSL and MLS. There is no excuse for NFL or MLB or probably even NBA franchises to sell their soul like that. But we may need to sell our soul.

That said, if possible I'd still like the stadium to be without corporate sponsor! I always thought the "such-and-such road" or something like that sound cool. How about "Main Street Stadium" or something along those lines?

Yeah I know what you mean but if we went for the road name we would be setting ourselves up for the anti-euro bashing.

I Like names like Elland Road for Leeds United, Quarry Lane for Mansfield Town, and I absolutely love the name White Hart Lane... even tho it is where Tottenham Hotspur play.

LA Galaxy call there stadium Victoria Street even tho it is the HDC
So we can give it our own name... if we don't like the official one.

I thought the Salt Palace was a great name and I absolutely hate the name "Delta Center"

We could give it the nick of the courthouse... the green mile... or whatever we want...

Those are both good. Yeah people would cry "eurosnobs!" if we used a "road" name, but it's hard to avoid being called "eurosnobs" anyway. I always liked White Hart Lane too, but maybe because my last name is Hart.

Stadium Name

I agree w/ those who think it will be tough to have a stadium that is not sponsored by someone...that is unless we could get Larry H or Jon M to pony up without having their name put on it...but that won't happen. I agree w/ the person that talked about the stadium names in England. Those are really cool. Personally, I like the "Stadium of Light" at Sunderland. A name like that would be pretty cool. I do think it possible though that a name like that could be a secondary stadium name....kind of like "The MeadowLands" back in New York/New Jersey. By the way...it's nice to be on here w/ everyone. Go Real!!!!

If our stadium is as nice as the Home Depot Center, they can call it the Walmart Costco Mervyns JCPenney Center for all I care! 😉

Of course, the other option is better....

Stadium name

The Murray site is on Fireclay Avenue which is a good as White Heart Lane but the the Brickyard would reflect its past site useage. Or get ecological with Big Cottonwood Creek (which flows past the North side of the site)

Downtown? How would you properly honor the political pull Rockey will have to swing and money he will have to materialize and his ridiclule at Field of Schemes.com?

Sell your soul names: The Airlines are all going broke so forget them. Quest took Seattle's digs, Qwestar Gas might be a possiblity if the stockholdes carry the burden courtesy the Public Utilites Commision. Lowes and Home Depot are taken and Sears/K-Mart are weak but Wal-Mart is not in the game. The only faithful Major sponsors of the Blitzz were Zion's Bank and Garff Auto, they may be possiblities. Earl Holding would want Sinclair, Little or Grand America. Would The Union Pacific honor it's old switch yard with a train name?
The E-Center still hasen't got a name sale after all this time as both The E-Center and Coors got burned in the non-deal.
Any Espanol sugestions? For an in ground stadium how about Caldera de Deportes.

Oh man "Fireclay Avenue" is pretty sweet. As for all this "sponsorship might be ok" talk, I rescind it all if it is named after Wal-Mart. I am a Wal-Mart loather.
