Official Loyalists Tailgating Thread

We're a couple weeks away from our home opener and our first of many Loyalist tailgate extravaganzas. I wanted to get input from everyone on the tailgates. I'm looking for suggestions not only for our first tailgate but for future ones as well.

We will have a reserved spot available for our pre-game festivities. We will hopefully be receiving a grill or two from one of our gracious sponsors.

I believe the current thought is to make the food freely available to all paying Loyalists. It has also been suggested that we make the food available to non-Loyalists for a reasonable price. It might be a good way to encourage membership.

What type of food would you like to see?

Possible Suggestions
Standard Fare: Hamburgers, hotdogs
Better Fare: Chicken, Sausage
Even-Better: Ribs, Pulled Pork, Brisket

Alot will depend on our budget and estimated attendance count.

Any interest in having "themed" tailgates from time to time?

Do any Loyalists have an special dietary considerations?

I'm just trying to get the wheels turning here so any input or suggestions you may have would be greatly appreciated.

As you say, a lot will depend on the budget. Naturally, I would prefer stuff on the "even-better" list, but hamburgers and hot dogs work just great if that is what our budget will support.

How are drinks going to be handled? Will they be provided or will it be bring your own? What about plates, condiments, and all of the other stuff we will need? Where is the budget for these tailgates coming from?

Good questions to which I have no definite answers currently.

I would imagine that drinks would be provided as well as all eating accessories.

I'll have to discuss budget details with our leadership.

Most likely we'll be partaking of standard fare though I'd like to have an occasional "splurge" once or twice a year.

Is there anyone that would be interested in assisting with at the tailgates? Volunteers will be needed for setup/takedown as well as cooking.

I wouldn't mind even bringing a few extra bucks to have a "splurge" party. In fact, maybe we should do that for the opener. We should try and make this a pretty big event. I mean you only have one very first home game once.

I would be willing to help with set-up/take-down or whatever else you need help with. Except for cooking. 😉

We all paid, what? $15? for Loyalists dues? And we have 20 games on the season ticket schedule. Loyalists dues have already paid for t-shirts from that $15. How much could we realistically afford from the remainder of that $15, even if we spent every cent of it? And don't we want to do some other things with that money?

I think we'll either have to keep things cheap cheap cheap (ANY meat is expensive, even the cheap stuff!) or only have free tailgate food for a certain number of games. Or people will have to pitch in extra money. Or pay for food. Or get a little more creative than I am at the moment. My vote is for people to all bring something to each tailgate so the money only has to pay for a small part of the food.

I wouldn't be opposed to this at all. I don't think bringing something or paying a few extra bucks every week to have first rate tailgating would be all that bad. But whatever we decide works best for the most people is what we should do.

Isn’t that the purpose of sponsors anyways?

Are you kidding!?! This is UTAH. We must stand proud of our heritage. I plan on bringing tri-colored jello (red, yellow, blue) and root beer for all!

I agree that we should bring something and pay a little as well. Perhaps we could set a price for those who supply something and another for those who just want grub.
