Looking at the draft prospects, it's quite possible that the #6 pick isn't even worth half of what the #5 pick would have been worth, as far as trade value. Jazz are going to have a tough time shopping it. They might package some of their picks and try to trade up, but I doubt any of the 5 teams above them would bite on that. Or maybe something huge will go down with Boozer this summer, who knows.

It doesn't look good, though. Small chance Deron Williams will drop to them. I imagine they'll get stuck with the pick and end up taking either Gerald Green or Raymond Felton. Awww, who am I kidding? The Jazz will waste their pick on another Raul Lopez-esque player from eastern Siberia that no one has ever heard of.

Good news: Things are shaping up nicely for another shot in the lottery next year!

If the Jazz get in the lottery enough they've eventually got to get a number one pick, right? Oh wait, maybe that's why it's called a lottery.

I'm a little bummed about getting the #6 pick. I hope they trade up or down, but prefer that they don't stay where they are.

On a bright note, at least the Jazz did beat the Spurs twice this year, and look how far they've gone!!! 🙂

I felt like I had been punched in the gut last night when I found out where the Jazz would be drafting. Why is it that every single time I get the slightest glimmer of hope with the Jazz, I always end up being very disappointed. I think that I'm just going to start assuming the absolute worst with them and then maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised. But I doubt it.

Didn't we all expect the worst two seasons ago and were pleasanty suprised? I bet we do that next year and it will be a better season (in our heads if not on the stat sheet).

Yes, that is true. That has been the only pleasant surprise I've ever had with the Jazz. And even that wasn't that great. So they weren't completely awful, but they still failed to make the playoffs. I'm not sure if not completely sucking can be considered a victory. But I guess you have to take them where you get them.

I'm really getting tired of the NBA though. I think that guaranteed contracts are destroying the league. What incentive do any of the players have to do well when they know that they will get their millions no matter what they do? No matter what Boozer does from here on out, he will get all that money. I think that the level of play would go up exponentially if the contracts were no longer guaranteed and players had to worry about being cut if they didn't live up to their contracts.

If there is a lockout this year, the NBA may just fall off of my radar screen for a while. That may be the last straw. I've been a Jazz fan almost my entire life, but the NBA is getting really old.

Any predictions for tonight? Biggest rumor is that if Marvin Williams doesn't drop to #3 that the Blazers will trade that pick and Ruben Patterson to the Jazz for the #6 pick and Giricek/Snyder, allowing the Jazz to pick up either Deron Williams or Chris Paul.

Of course, I still have this sick feeling that they'll get stuck with the #6 pick and do something stupid like pick Granger or Frye...or Raul Lopez' little brother...

I think that they will be okay if they get either Paul or D. Williams. I hope that they can get one of those guys. I hope they don't have to give up so much to get them though. Although, maybe Patterson would do well with a change of scenery.
