TV Rumors

I've been doing reseearch on the local TV schedules for the MLS teams, both for my own use and for C10's use in planning stuff for the Rocky Mountain Cup games. As of right now it looks like ESPN2 is covering the first of the 4 games, and the Rapids are picking up the 3rd of the 4 games. I've heard rumors that RSL will be televising all of there games. Any semi-official announcement on that? Any idea if there will be TV for the Aug 26th or Oct 13th games?

I do believe that KSL, our local NBC affiliate, has signed on to broadcast all of the home games and five away games, so I'm pretty sure that there will be coverage of those games.

Where do you get the information that they will be broadcasting all the home games?

From the following link, it seems to indicate that they will only be broadcasting 5 away games:

At the Loyalist meeting, David, the FO rep that was there, told that to me. Maybe I misunderstood him. I also thought I read it somewhere else. I'll have to do some searching to see if I'm right or not.

Here is another source, but this one suggests all games would be broadcast, not just home games.

"One nice thing that Don seemed pretty excited about was that Real Salt Lake is the first team in Major League Soccer to broadcast all games live on Network Television, not just on cable. Yay KSL! The Metrostars/Real game and Real/Rapids game will both be nationally televised. In closing Don added, 'We’re very excited about what Steve [Pastorino] has been able to put together in such a short amount of time.'" http://www.realsaltlake.org/forums/showthread.php?t=580

Maybe Neil could come on and qualify exactly what he meant.

I've been compiling all known broadcasts of RSL games at http://www.theloyalists.com/schedule2005.htm

So far I have not gotten any confirmation that KSL or any Utah station is broadcasting more than the 5 announced by KSL.
If I find out differently I'll update that webpage. If someone else knows more please email/PM and let me know.

Heard today at the practice that the Season Opener on KSL is tape delayed and will be broadcast at 7pm MST on KSL and that we need to re-schedule our Loyalist meeting to 5:30PM MST instead of 3:30

Just thought I would share that with everyone!

Loyal1 can confirm this.

A really scary thought I just had is that since it is tape delayed KSL may edit it so that they can show commercials and not miss any of the match!

let's hope this does not happen!

I checked the KSL website. There is only a two-hour block for the game, so I'm assuming there won't be commercial breaks. Hopefully they'll be more creative with some advertising during the game in a non-intrusive sort of way. That's cool with me.

There's also a pregame show at 6:30, which should be interesting. Will this move the Loyalists meeting to 5:00? Or will it be at 5:30?

I'm still trying to figure out how to get a babysitter during General Conference when my normal babysitter will be otherwise occupied. This timing stinks.
