The player in the photo is misidentified. It is Senad Halilovic.
This guy speaks VERY little english. He seems like a great guy on and off the field but I hope their isn't some time when DJ or Rustin isn't telling him to mark up on player A and he goes to player B (ala US v. Mexico on Sunday).

I certainly like Mathis' attitude in the article. And I totally agree with him.

Remember Fito Ovalle? He went from not even being able to say "Hello" to speaking English better than most Americans. KSL's local news showed some highlights from the practice, and a short interview with Eddie Pope. Eddie mentioned about how soccer players try to be more approachable than players of other US pro sports. They also had a shot of the crowd; and I have to imagine that some of you were on TV.

I e-mailed Trey Fitz-Gerald about the Thursday practice. 😕 Here is his response:

So, in the words of Trey Fitz-Gerald, see you there! And in the words of Jim Umber, be there or be square!:D __________________

It's a good thing I'm married or I'd probably develop a crush on one or more of the players and end up at every practice harassing the players. 🙂 Or maybe not.
And by the way, Clarette... I don't blame you at ALL for not just walking up to people and introducing yourself to them. It took a lot of courage for me to go introduce myself to maldini (aka Loyal1), Jim Umber and whatshisname (you know, really friendly with the big beard...) at the Blitzz games. I thought I'd about die of nervousness at first. Okay, so I still feel socially inept and frightened when I go to soccer stuff with everyone, but I'll get over it one day! In the meantime, Clarette, go have fun with everyone. These are nice, nice people! (At least, those I've met!)
