Houston-crapids 10-14 [R]

Since it ties into the future of RSL it needs its own topic.

do or die for crapids Saturday night

I am surprised that the crapid pr people would release this excerpt:
Quote:
TEAM NEWS
-Once again, it was a lack of finishing that hurt the Rapids. Winger Terry Cooke told The Denver Post that it's something that is a carryover from the training ground.
-"I think that creeps into the games," Cooke said. "It's like bread and butter. People in situations, one-on-one, the ball should be going in the back of the net nine times out of 10, but we're never doing it."
-For the Rapids to win, they will have to do it on the road, where they've not had much success this season - they've won just twice on their travels, and have scored just 11 goals in 15 road games. They've scored more than one goal in just two away game - the last time coming May 27 at Real Salt Lake, but they also scored two goals at Houston in the season opener.
-"All season our team we've lacked forcefulness that we've not been able to put forth," Clavijo said. "But I hope with the pressure of the final game before us and the need to quality, this will change and we'll be able to score goals."
-Said Joe Cannon: "Our team needs to find the way, the chemistry. To get results another way will be worth very little toward anything you win. The bad thing is that time is not our ally."
-The Rapids will be without Clint Mathis, serving the second of a two-game suspension levied after his elbow against Avery John in the Sept. 30 game v New England. But the Rapids will also be without center back Mike Petke, sent off for "verbal abuse" after he confronted referee Brian Hall after the match.
-"This is the last I'm ever going to say about this, it's giving me ulcers and makes me want to retire," Petke said to the Post.

in other words...
we never score
maybe the final game will be different
chemistry stinks
Clint's on the roster but not on the team
we hear RSL coming up behind
Petke retires

Looks like Colorado tied it up in the 88th minute.

Well, hopefully this will teach Ellinger and the boys that they have to take destiny into their own hands, and not leave their playoff chances in the hands of other teams...at least we had a shot this year. Oh well. Here's to Ante Razov scoring 3 or 4 goals tomorrow night so that Jeff Cunningham doesn't become the first person to get the Golden Boot and not go to the playoffs...

Well, at least we can't say that Houston just rolled over and let them have the draw or the win. Sour grapes for me anyway because I wouldn't have been able to attend the playoff game due to my daughters birthday party.

And anyone who says that most of the games in MLS' season don't mean anything are liars! If we'd have had a different result in any of the losses or draws this season - particularly with Colorado, we'd be in a different position now.

Houston: the king of draws.

Yep, RSL left too much to the kindness of others. Too many losing streaks and too many late goals. Or was it too many early goals?

guess the playoff travel fund will be applied to next years tix now.

Still, I hope RSL wins tomorrow. They'd be even on points with crapids and have a better goal margin. There's only that hideously embarassing home loss to crapids...

Leadville Johnny Brown was right.

Not only the 9/2 game, but the scoreless draws we dominated. The Chivas stoppage time #$@!#$#$%$ draw. The Dallas loss again in stoppage time. This club should have had the playoffs clinched a couple weeks ago.
