The reason why RSL is not in the playoffs. Just 4 points, but if we would have gotten them we would be cheering for a win in a game that would of meant something tomorrow.

The slow start gets a lot of the blame, as it should, but the slow middle hurt RSL just as much.

June 9 at Colorado Rapid L, 1-0
Torres and Garlick go out.

June 17 at Houston Dynamo L, 2-1
Worst call ever on Atiba offside

June 24 N.E. Revolution T, 0-0

June 28 at Chicago Fire L, 2-1
2 goals in short span after lightning delay

July 4 Chivas USA T, 0-0
use the midfield

July 8 at L.A. Galaxy L, 2-0
Garlick's mistakes. 5 minutes of terrible play

JC says in SLTrib:

""You're judged by your last performance."

Wow, how I wish that were the case.

Pure craziness. After the early goal pretty much everyone would've figured the Rapids were sunk. And early on Pablo seemed to be begging the ref to get pissed at him and toss him out. And then when Houston went up 2-1 I think most everyone was extra sure the Rapids were sunk. Rapids scoring 2 goals in a game? Ya sure, better chance of Green Bay being named a cultural hot spot. And yet then when it was 3-2 surely there wasn't a chance in heck fo the Rapids tieing the game. Yet somehow it happened. Unbelievable.

Like others have said, it goes to show how getting results earlier in the season can make a difference.

you can peg the playoffs miss on two games.

fcd at home. dallas scores in the 94th(ish) minute rsl loses 1 point.

chivas at home suarez scores in the 94th(ish) minute.

both of those games came at a crucial time in the season for rsl to step up and make a spot theirs. they then lose the momentum they had and play mediocre the rest of the way.

without both of those injury time meltdowns, rsl finishes third with 43 points and chivas falls to 4th with 41. crapids fall out.

How about the Sept. 2 six pointer with the Crapids?

yes you can add that too, but in both the games i mentioned rsl had the point(s) sealed up and the game was virtually over. one second of thinking about the post game party and they got burned by and scored on basically as the ref puts the whistle to his lips.

i believe there was a similar injury tim meltdown vs houston with derosario early int he season as well.
