Seems the press is still trying to stir up trouble. KSL has a story that seems intended to scare people into thinking that light rail / TRAX funding will be reduced if money goes to RSL. A few things I’ll note. First is that if the county doesn’t spend the money on the stadium, they DON’T GET THE MONEY. Second thing to note is that the mass transit system (which I heartedly support by the way) is going to take a hell of a lot more money than the public contribution to the stadium. We are talking many 100s of millions of dollars here that new rail lines will cost in the coming years. It should also be noted that much of the transit dollars are going to come from the federal coffers anyway.

Ironically when they first proposed TRAX, I was in the minority of those who favored it while the majority of Utahns did not. In fact there was even an election where people voted against funding TRAX. TRAX went through anyway and now most people see the wisdom of increased development of this resource.

I had friends over on Saturday last week. I was like, "We broke ground today!" And my friend's husband said: "Yeah, so now we won't get our Trax line to the airport."

He was really irritated. So that's how Joe Public sees it in my experience.

Real's PR has done a really bad job in this department, too many people think that they are going to have to either pay for it through taxes or lose other things.

Yeah, nice to see everyone there: Deuce, fuegote, me. Hmmm, I think that was the contingent of pro-RSL folks. Did I miss anyone?

Wished I could have been there. Was on a plane instead. 🙁

So was the vote 5-4 then? And so if Corroon doesn't veto it's a go, right?
