If we can't get Jay Goppingen, maybe Frank Yallop?

Bruce Arena is not a fraud. People may have been over the top with celebrating advancing in 02 but he's not a fraud. No need to fire him; IIRC his contract is up soon.

Bruce Arena is a great coach. Perhaps the greatest that America has ever produced and certainly the best we have had as USMNT coach. With that said, he has been coaching the Nats for 8 years and is the longest tenured coach at the WC 2006.
His contract is up and regardless of this year's performance, US Soccer should find a new coach. Also, Arena has brought USMNT some respectability in the world, which we have never known before. He has brought us this far, new ideas and tactics will hopefully get us over the hump to truly compete on the world market. Does that make sense?

So my question is this: Who is the best person to succeed The Bruce? And should it be someone from another country? Have we reached a point in the US where we need a USMNT coach from a soccer-superpower to take us to the next level? Many people are pointing at Klinsmann as the most logical successor. __________________

Klinsmann would be a fine choice, but he might not want to do another WC. But having him live in LA near the HDC makes things easier. Oh and he coaches an excellent attacking style even the Germans have figured out.
Discussion over at BS brought some other names to the table as well. -DC's Peter Nowak (I am sure RSL fans fav choice) -Revs' Steve Nicols (good friend of new USSF prez and former WC player himself) -Portugal's Luiz Felipe Scolari (doubtful?)
