Veeeery interesting. This article is, all of a sudden, presenting a whole different outlook for both sites. They've gone from hot & heavy bidding, to "well we're not so sure". Better get someone commited before they pull out altogether and we have to start all over. :p

I like the idea of leasing part and buying part. Pehaps Holding would be willing to lower the price if he were given naming rights on the stadium. "Grand Real Stadium" would be a great name. And what about the LDS church, has anyone hit them up for a donation yet? They are always interested in the addition of people traffic in the downtown area. Even small contributions (from area businesses that would benefit from having a stad near-by) would help. If we got RSL, the mayor, and the church all on the side of the 6th south site, nothing could stop us! (I hope)

Interesting that the Murray proposal doesn't consist of much. I thought their bid had more things in place. Sounds like they just said something like, "You can build it here if you want, we're not sure how we'll build it but its a thought."

Hey, don't shoot me for asking this, but have any officials ever mentioned the State Fair Grounds?

I just ask that because I was thinking about the whole "using the stadium for concerts" thing and I thought of the fair grounds because they hold concerts durring the Fair. I haven't been to the Fair in at least 10 years and really don't ever want to go again, but is there alot of empty space or land there?

I just can't remember what it looks like inside.

I don't think RSL would consider the Fairgrounds, even if it were on the board, because it's not close to mass transit at this point.

It's an interesting idea though...

Maybe I'm off on this, but the fairgrounds may not have enough space.

Parking could be a bit tight while the fair is going on; or RSL would have to schedule a long road trip for that time period.

But Crew Stadium is at the Ohio State Fairgrounds & everyone involved is happy with it. One of the reasons they are happy with it is because Lamar paid for the bricks & mortar himself.

It looks like the SLC City Council has been reading my old posts on USLDiscussions.com about how the only thing cooler than a stadium next to the county jail is a stadium next to a junk yard.

These stadium deals are always a rough road. Nothing is easy, and everyone involved tries to push the cost on others as much as possible. We're in for a bumpy ride, but in the end I'm confident we'll get a stadium. The deal will get done--somewhere.
