Houston vs. RSL [R]

Houston beat the Crapids in their opener (5-2) after which they have gone on a 2-game losing streak.

They lost at home against the Kansas City Wizards (1-2) and at D.C. United (2-0).

RSL will have to find a way to shut down Dwayne De Rosario, Brian Ching and Alejandro Moreno. Also, our flank players will need to cover Ricardo Clark and Brian Mullan.

Ching has 5 goals in 3 matches. Presently, he's converting 1 in every 3 shots. Looks like a job for Pope.

I think if RSL plays like they did last night but works on actually finishing they can pull this off.

I have my ticket for this one. Should be interesting to see which teams defense plays the better game. I'm hoping to get out of the stadium alive as I'll be cheering for RSL (unless one of the home boys gets in the game, then I'll cheer softly for them).

I guess I'm a pessimist, but I figure that an angry DeRo will run all over us. They are so loaded with talent, it will be tough to put them down. I think a tie is a stretch. Maybe if we started in a 3-4-1-2 with every d-mid and winger-mid coming back for defense, we might be able to contain them until we got tired.

I'll watch the game. As long as we give an effort like we gave against Dallas and RBNY, we'll be fine. We may not win, but we will lose with heart. And Honor. And Team Spirit. Maybe not skill...

DeRo and Ching better stay away from Brown or they may be arrested for assault...

What specific threats do you think Real Salt Lake will pose this weekend? How will you counteract them?

As far as Salt Lake goes, Jason Kreis is coming back from injury and Jeff Cunningham is a very dangerous player. The acquisition of Chris Klein gives them good wide play, and Andy Williams -- on any given day -- is a dangerous player. Also, on set pieces you have people like Douglas Sequeira and Eddie Pope attacking the ball, so those are the main things that we see. Our most important thing is to try and keep them away from our goal as far as we can, put them under pressure, try and create mistakes in their half and try to take advantage of those mistakes, as well.
