I just got back from practice and it looks like we have the same lineup as last week, except for the addition of Kreis and the removal of Brown. Good news I think.

3-5-2 here we come......I'm hearing that Talley will be able to play this week. But will he be 100%? Klein, Mehdi, Cutler, and Douglas had better be thinking defensively or those back 3 are going to be hung out to dry all night.

So, did it look like they will play with 3 in the back? Williams up top with Cunningham and Kreis playing in the mid-field? Or, Kreis up top and Williams moving back to the mid-field?

so.....

-------Garlick---------
Talley---Pope----Torres
---Sequiera--Cutler----
Klein---------Ballouchy
--------Kreis----------
-Cunningham-Williams--

?

DS and KC would be busy and would largely determine the pace/direction of the match. I think they can make it work, though. Unless I have the lineup all screwed up, that is.

Not to blow my own horn, but I believe I called that lineup! 😁

Ok... so maybe I am blowing my own horn - at least a little. 🙂

Regardless of the lineup, RSL is always a completely different team on the road. I hope they come out playing for a win.

Game guide:
http://www.mlsnet.com/pdf/mls/2006/gameguides/04/422hoursl.pdf

Keys to the match:
1) Shut down Ching and Moreno (Pope & Talley)
2) Williams needs to provide quality service to Cunny and Kreis.
3) This game will hinge on Ballouchy and Klein transitioning from offense to defense (and vice versa). If they do it well, we will get great service from the flanks and yet shut down Mullan and Davis moving forward.
4) Cutler will need to cut DeRo down to size.

Is this from an article somewhere, or is this an Arelius original? Is Kreis going to be playing at the forward position?

I think that combination is most effective. I just don't think Williams is an effective forward. He has twice as many shots as Kreis or Klein and nothing to show for it. I believe his strength is providing service. Whereas Kreis and Cunny are proven finishers.
