The problem is, he hasn't shown he's an effective center mid either. I still think he needs to play left mid.

I think your point #4 above is the key. DeRo is the engine for them, and he's also the barometer - as DeRo goes, so goes the team. The question is, can Cutler shut down and frustrate him? Hardly. That's why I think RSL loses 2-1 or 3-1.

Not a good sign: Today in History, 1836, Sam Houston led the vicotry of the Battle of San Jacinto.

<gulp>

oh yeah, they're the dynamo.

Hey! We don't need racist statements like "1836" on this board. Also no 1776 or 1812. There are a few Brits that may get offended.

I'm a member of the Flat Earth Society. The names "Houston Rockets" and "Houston Astros" offend me.

Is Sequeira a better fit for marking DeRo?

Also, would you rather Williams play left mid and trade Ballouchy for that center spot?

Yes and yes. I think Mehdi might be ready (hey, that rhymes), especially since his defensive responsibilities would be less.

But the opposite applies as well. Williams defensive responsibilities would be more. I thought that this change would be a good idea as well until I thought about Williams trying to play defense and I decided that Mehdi is better suited being there. I like his defense better than Williams.

This is a good example of why I keep you around.....you remind me about everything I forget. You make an excellent point that I hadn't even considered. But at this point Mehdi's not exactly blowing me away with his defense (although it's improving), so I don't know if we'd be worse off with Williams at left half. It's a pick your poison deal. So I'd still like to see the switch just for fun.

Yeah, neither one of them can be considered a defensive specialist, but at least it seems like Mehdi hustles and tries to get back. Although Andy does seem to be doing better this year than last year. I've actually seen him make some pretty long defensive runs this year.

I wouldn't be opposed to trying it to see what would happen though. Like I said, it was my first instinct to move them around given the personnel that are starting. Move Kreis up front, Mehdi to the a-mid, and let Andy play the left wing. It could end up working out very well.

Did anyone else realize that according to the game guide, Worthen and Novak are our sub midfielders?

What is up with that?
