I don't want this to be a he said she said thing and I totally agree with the fact that the brazilians should be welcomed back. But I stood in front of them and they did more than heckle him. They threw several things (coins, paper balls, a bottle cap, and a beach ball) at the NY fan and hit him and got in his face. I think I would have fought over that too. I appreciated you being the Kyphe to break up the fight and I was down there with you. But they weren't as innocent as you are making it sound.

Here's the crazy thing though. Before the Brazilians even came down into our section, I was approached by a women carrying a baby who pointed out the guy in the Real Madrid shirt to me and said something to the effect of, "That guy better watch it or something is going to happen to him!" Then shortly after that I was approached by a fan from further up our section who said basically the same thing. I think something may have happened with or without the Brazilians involvement. That being said, I also think we should approach the FO and RES about creating a section in RES for away fans to possibly avoid these types of problems. That is the way it is done in other MLS stadiums. Case-in-point: Saturday evenings Chivas/Galaxy match where all the Galaxy fans were in one section of the stadium. This won't keep all the opposing fans out of home fan sections, but it may help a little bit, especially with Chivas fans. I remember quite a few near fights last year with Chivas fans. Luckily cooler heads prevailed in those situations, but whose to say about this year? What do ya'll think?

only trouble with having a separate section is that at RES you can basiclaly go sit anywhere once you're inside, unlike other stadiums i have been to where you can pretty much only sit on a certain stand once you're in. Although most away fans will want to sit together you'll always get people like that.
Although on the other hand, if we spot them early and tell the staff perhaps they can issue an ultimatum such as, if you want to cheer for the waway team go to their section otherwise please keep quiet? if you can't tell i am tired and thinking really slowly ... but posting rubbish here is better than trying to cook a meal for the whole family at 1:30 am. ... Procrastination rules all in my world =/

I like the idea of getting staff involved before something happens, probably could have avoided the situation all together if we had. And you have a great point about the seating in RES that I hadn't considered. I'm just looking for any way to avoid a scene like that happening again. Oh and procrastination and insomnia rule all in my world 🙂 (oh and my girl lol) :headbang:

the other thing i was wondering ... this is my first season attending games ... i know LAG Chivas games have a lot of away fans where they are close to each other ... but are there any teams that come to RES with a lot of their supporters? Perhaps we could use the south stand for away supporters if and when they come on mass?

I went to two of the three games with Chivas last year and they definitely had the biggest fan prescence. I think having them in their own section would be a good idea. Unfortunately it will just make them louder but at least it would reduce the potential for violence.
