USA markets that are ready to take on new MLS teams

Bizjournals.com says there are 73(!) that could host an MLS team. SEVENTY THREE!

http://www.bizjournals.com/edit_special/36.html?t=printable

Here's how many markets qualified for each league:
Major League Soccer: 73
National Football League: 30
National Hockey League: 23
National Basketball Association: 19
Major League Baseball: 0

Is there really absolutely none that can support baseball? I know there are some that want to all the same...and are happy to lose every other pro sports franchise they have just to keep the possibility alive.

Some of the markets they say could support an MLS team.... well I am a bit skeptical. I haven't even heard of some of them! (not that my ignorance condemns them or anything, but...) I'm not so sure.

I bet you're doubting Anchorage. We'll let me tell you it's booming...it's the Fargo of the north country.

I've lived in 2 out of the 4 (State College- home of the Nittany Lions and Philly).

And for the record, the city with the second most highly rated raw potential ranking for MLS: Orlando, FL 🙂

But if you look at it from a Sponsorship and viewing public POV, its Philly, PA hands down.

McAllen? You're kidding? Small town in the Rio Grande Valley on the Texas/Mexico border. Population around 110,000.
