I have actually heard some rumors about Dema coming here, but they're just rumors and I don't have any other proof than that.
He is a great player and I would honestly love to have him join our team. Let's just keep him from breaking anyone's leg....unless that person happens to be a goat π __________________

I know in MLS the Salary Cap is really more of a guideline than a steadfast rule, but how do we pay for players like Kovelenko when we have people like Cunningham, Kreis, Williams, and an undisclosed portion of Mathis' salary.
Besides that, Do we even need him? We have Brown and Talley both proven "utility" players. we also have players like Tiger and Gregorio who are playing out of their natural positions. Do we need Kovelenko? Discuss?

Talley and Brown are good utility. But Dema is not a utility player. He had injuries last year, but usually he is a starter. He is a great midfielder, and played the wing for DC.
He has exceptional skill and pace but most of all he has great drive and competitive nature (some times to his fault). I'll argue that RSL lacks passion from most of its players. Scholesy has mentioned this several times. I agree. Dema is one of those players that would never suffer from this problem. He is a competitor and a fighter. We need more of those. As for budget/cap issues, no one really knows. When I recently asked Steve P what was going with Mathis and the cap he told me "no comment". MLS never reveals this stuff willingly. I've heard everything on the Mathis deal. RSL might not even take any hit on their salary cap from Mathis, basically they'll pay him 300k under the table. Is that true, I don't know. Dema makes 165k now. He will make far less at DC if he stays. I personally think Nowak is done with Kovalenko. He think having a hungry new team that will pay him near what his salary was would be of interest to him.

Good points. what do you mean by Passionate player? Is he a hot head like Mathis? Is he a motivator or a detractor?
All the prior talk on this thread and many other discussions about leg breaking I am just curious if we need a "thug" w/ passion or a smart player like Wolff or Zavagnin.

Oh don't get me wrong, if we can get Wolfie or Z-Man, by all means go for it. But I think they will stay at KC.
Dema is a hothead, he can over do it. But you don't ever catch him napping or just harping on the refs for 90. IMHO

Since we are talking about KC, how about Diego Gutierrez?

Dema would be sweet, but do we have the money for him?

Money? Who needs money. We are paying 300k for a player that plays for our worse enemies. Maybe Dema would come for 50k a year and a free subscription to the Ensign.
