MLSnet got this out a little late. We've known this for a while.

The article also includes the pre-season schedule. Plus Nolly and Cutler were moved to the senior roster.

News has been coming for a while but the official press release is a breath of fresh air... much needed depth on the backline!

Pope, Broome, Cabrera, Torres, Akwari, Talley (sometimes), Brown (sometimes)

We've got two of the more widely recognized defenders in CONCACAF with Pope and Cabrera, a strong duo of Broome and Torres and work horses like Brown, Talley and Akwari.

Now, I'm not going to go ahead and pencil Torres in to start - he apparently played some games for Dunseth's old Swedish side last year which is in the second division and he never really caught on in MLS. Hope the kid can turn into a starter but I can't see it happening out of the gate.

Nevertheless, I think that the point of this is to have someone who can be played immediately. Whether he will be or not, I don't know, but the point is to have real people to step in and take over when our main stars are off to their national teams, or when someone gets injured.

I think coach Ellinger doesn't like having to sub in an untried or out-of-position player, just because he doesn't have any more choices.
