Should have guessed. Thanks.

I read once that the Alliance was actually created by the USA and China in the not so distant future....well at least according to Firefly's FutureHistory.

Not the Alliance exactly, but there was a merger of USA - China in the future. Firefly is 500 years in the future, give or take. Thus the reason everything is in both English and Chinese, and why everyone swears in Mandarin. (Interesting question somebody asked, when the movie is dubbed for Chinese markets, will everyone swear in English?).

It was a really cool movie. Definitely a one to buy on DVD

I borrowed the Firefly series on DVD and I just finished watching it this week.
The series was awesome too. Man that show really needs to make a comeback!
Now that I have seen the series i want to see the movie again....

yea, i just wrapped up the series myself this week and watched my serenity DVD to make it final.

the series has gained quite the cult following since its demise a few years back. the cast was on contract for 2 more movies but from the rumors going around there will be no more episodes or movies because 'Serenity' did not do as well as they had hoped.

oh well. maybe WB will be nice and pick up the series since it was voted the best sci-fi series EVER on some hi-profile sci-fi website. cant remember it off the top of my head but when i find the link i'll stick it here.

The hope for a sequel now rests in the international box office and DVD sales. It looks like the domoestic box office will fall just short of covering the movie's cost, so any profit will come out of international/DVD. If you have any interest in seeing a sequel, buy the DVD. Otherwise "I swear by my pretty floral bonnet, I will end you" 😉

Sale #1 right here. I've also been talking non-stop about it to everyone here at work - so that should drum up some more interest.

Your reviews certainly have encouraged me as well. I liked the series when it was on TV. Here's to hoping they bring it back.

after reading this thread, I decided to rent the series from netflix. I am totally sold. I wanted to see the film as well, but I'm afraid I've missed my chance. Has it already cruised through the dollar theaters as well? Is the DVD my only chance? It doesn't come out until Dec 20th or something. That's too long to wait.

It's still playing here and there, but it's limited. I'm not sure where in Salt Lake City it might be.

Fandango found one listing in Phoenix and none in SLC, Ogden, or Provo.

The first 9 minutes are online at iFilm...
