The ref did a great job for 75 minutes as well, and then he went to crap. A straight red for Andy? For TALKING? I want to hear what he said. He must have insulted the ref's mom or something.

Well, I don't know what type of speech exactly warrants a red card (I am not a ref and haven't read up on what is considered a red lately although I know they are cracking down on it in the EPL). Andy however gave the ref the finger and then repeatedly told him to "F off!" as the ref approached and reached into his pocket. Maybe just the finger is a yellow, but repeated abuse of the ref like that is probably considered a red card. Certainly not very professional.

I generally agree with others on the ref though. He was really quite good for the first 75 minutes and then somehow morphed into a clueless idiot for the last 15. I really wonder what happened there. Really odd.

*sigh*
Q: RSL barely had a chance against the Revs?
A: Yes, the Revs are the best team in MLS (although the Quakes would argue) and they are heading to Dallas in November unless a hurricane hits New England. RSL is one of the worst teams in MLS (in case you missed that). To think they would beat the Revs is very postive thinking. Could the home field, crowd, turf, altitude help RSL? Of course, but it hasn't stopped all the other lesser teams from beating RSL at home
Sure RSL played well for most of the match, but the finishing wasn't there. And all year the Revs have been a late-game dominating team. If you can't beat them early on, no matter the possession, your going to lose. Thats the facts.

Q: Dunseth got burned?
A: When Smith first gets the ball and runs from the midfield to the goal, he blows by Dunseth on the way. Only Kamler gave any chase as Smith slotted the game winner.
And yes, there are several times this has happened. Donovan, Nagaumara, Wolfe etc have all gotten by Dunseth to score. Does Dunseth suck and need calling out? No. But these events did happen.

Although I have to agree with Scholesy 100%. That dreadful corner started that whole Revs goal. I couldn't believe they took the short corner...*sigh*
Oh well...

We can look forward to playing well on ESPN2 next weekend (9/28) against Dallas. I just hope Mathis doesn't want to have a encore performance from his last national broadcast.

Tough loss last Saturday. As with the Quakes a few weeks ago, RSL outplayed a division leader, but just couldn't get the result. I was really depressed after this match if anything, for Andy's ejection.

It seems like ejections like this are sadly becoming a pattern for our team. It seems that our players get frustrated with what is taking place on the pitch, lose their composure, then react with emotion and we end up losing a player for the next match. Incidents like Andy's ejection, Jamie getting a red late in a recent match, and Dunseth's red against the Metrostars all took place because someone got frustrated and reacted without thinking about the consequences.

I talked with another fan about this riding home on TRAX Saturday and we both agreed that rarely does anything good ever comes from reacting impulsively. He commented that the players are professionals and need to curb their emotions during adverse times. Our players have simply got to have some self control during difficult times. The next match we will now be without at least 2 critical attacking players (as Kreis' yellow card pushed his points total over the limit and now he has to sit out the next match.)

In any case, Andy received a painful lesson for his outburst. We'll miss you next game Andy, and look forward to seeing you on the pitch when you return.

"Does Dunseth suck and need calling out? No."

Yes, he needs to be called out. His turnstile defense has become more obvious to me over the season.

The silver lining might be that MLS is better than the Swedish league he played for last year.

Well if there is any silver lining...thats it.
Seriously, the amount of mistakes Dunseth has made, I figured the only reason he is still on the team is because the Trib made him on of the "faces" of the team (with Countess, Kreis and Mathis).
I doubt he is still here next year. I expect him to go back overseas.
