So no "In Living Color" fans got any "How many jobs do you have?" chants started?

My wife & my daughter both had fun.

Well, part of the reason why my daughter had fun was because the stadium was pretty empty and she could go on her "Walkabouts" like in the Utah Blitzz days.

It sounded like Cabrera got hauled down in the box at one point when he was going towards goal. For those at the match, did we lose a PK here?

I could only listen on the radio but sounded like Tiger was inserting himself more confidently. LOVE to see that. If he can pick up some of the responsibilities in the central part of the pitch it'll relieve some of the pressure of non-Mathis games.

Point beaten into ground, but sounded like Scarlett was dangerous too.

Amazing that Coach E. put Cabrera on the right. I've seen him play centrally for the most part and left defender, but never right. Gotta love that he showed strong out of position.

Given the corner was 10 feet in front of the supporters, I could SWEAR it was taken by Scarlett.

Other than that, WHY can't we finish. We really should have at least had a draw against the Quakes, and when you outshoot the other team 19-4, you should expect a comfortable win.

In any case, the new players all look very good out there. Hoping we start to put together a few wins.

I'm Salt Lake 'til I die.........

Okay... it was Scarlett that took the corner kick. (Deuce, even though some trash photographer got in the way for your prize shot did you get any of the celebration? It is Scarlett jumping into Akwari... anyhow) That is for sure. I was three feet from him and I remember the Scarlett Fever chant and that I yelled that it was a beauty of a kick. It was Scarlett. Whoever else is calling it Tiger is making my mistake of just looking at the hair (and not too closely at that).

Tiger had some tremendous effort out there. I saw him make more tackles that night than some other players have made the whole season. I liked Gregorio's effort and hustle. He was a smart player too. I think that he and Cabrera on the right side will be a great combination in the future.

We should have scored more but I swear that HV had six or seven people in the box every time we were down there.

Good chanting and effort from the supporters. Excellent references to Cool Runnings. ha ha ha.

I was sitting down on the west side when Cabrera got hauled down in the box, it should have been a pk... but you know how the refs are in the MLS :pissed:

I would like to see Tiger play central defender in a game over Cutler, just to see how he does.

I agree. Cutler has not played well at all the last few games and it seemed like Tiger did a good job.

Gustavo is a fan favorite for those of us who follow Guatemalan Soccer, so what I'm about to say should be understood in that context:

Gustavo can do a lot of impressive things on the field - as I keep saying, he's a real steal for RSL in this transfer window. And yes, he can even score goals on occasion... with his head, that is. However, I simply cannot recall the last time that I saw him sitting inside the box with the ball on his foot in a position to score! This concept is so far out there that to me it would be like seeing a herd of cows grazing in Central Park. It's a sight that's far too uncommon to believe.

This is why I felt compelled to confirm what I had heard from the announcers....

Then again, I suppose part of this could be because he generally plays centrally and doesn't get involved in the attack so perhaps this could become more the norm than the exception now that he's here.

It was a little odd last night to see Cabrera playing attacking defender, all right. Most of the first half he was consistently farther upfield than Cutler and sometimes Mathis. But as long as he has the speed to get back fast enough, well, more power to him. He was doing a good job up there. We might just start a trend--offensive defense. It's not like our defenders have more goals than our midfield, right? 😉
