Friendly Match Suggestion

I was just talking to my co-worker in Derby, UK. He's a big Aston Villa fan and he said he would fly out to Utah with his girl friend if RSL were to have a freindly with Aston Villa. I wonder what it would take for this to happen. Does anyone know how friendlies are arranged? Would RSL pay Aston Villa's travel expenses? I'd like to see this happen, I'm just not sure it would. Would anyone else be interested in this?

I just got an email back from Pastorino, he said that they tried to get Everton to come in, but they didn't want to play on artificial turf and they tried to get West Brom in, but they cancelled their U.S. tour at the last moment. He said that he does expect an EPL team to play here soon. 🙂

Nottingham Forest or Mansfield Town?

Isn't Arsenal or ManU coming to the US?

Arsenal usually does the Ajax tournament and Austria in the preseason, which I think is way better for the team.

I am sure you all realize this, but just in case, almost all the English leagues have started now.
So if they come now it wouldn't be for a preseason or US tour match.
Basically it will be only for a one-and-done Friendly match.

Do many EPL and other English league teams travel during the season to do friendlies in other countries?

Dorados de Culiacan need a place that's at a high altitude to train at in the summer.

RSL needs a place with no snow & no inversion to train at in the winter.

How about a "Neutral site" game in Mazatlan!

If they travel outside the UK it is usually within the EU.
I didn't see a time frame for suggestions so of course my suggestions are for next season! If they get to work on it now... we could see them here next year...

Go Forest!

Thanks Eric. I just didn't think English team would realistically come to play RSL for this season.

I think Roger was talking about a foreign team coming to SLC.

If they did a Home and Away like they are doing with Hannover next year...
I would seriously consider travelling to Nottingham to see that at the City Ground... I want to sit (Stand) in the Brian Clough Stand!

Yes, I was talking about an EPL team coming here to play. From the way Miles (my co-worker in England) talks, it sounds like they probably wouldn't consider a mid-season friendly in the U.S. But maybe next season. I'm hoping that we can get Aston Villa in, it would be fun to attend that match with Miles.
