Here's a weird thing.

I was just watching Romania v. Andorra on FSC and one of the guys calling the game said

(not word for word but close)

Real Salt Lake needs to send out an olive branch to Real Madrid.

You know, a relationship.

I thought that was part of the deal?

This story has never been resolved.

Essentially, Dave Checketts soccer background comes from his travels in Spain, where of course, Real Madrid rules (I know, Barc fans will disagree, but I digress).

When Checketts announced RSL he said they would work towards a relationship with Madrid. However it either has never happened or is light years away, because since then Checketts has never said anything else about it.

It was pretty clear that AEG has a better relationship with Madrid than RSL.

Uncle Dave has, errr, more urgent fish to fry right now, namely the stadium (nice mixed metaphor).

If something happens in the future with Real Madrid, great, but I'm not all that bothered by it at the moment.
