I left in the 86th minute. Apparently the red card happened 4 minutes into stoppage time. Jaime tackled someone hard into the boards and got a straight red. That's what I heard on the radio, again, I didn't see it.

Jamie had a nice hip check on Wolff, sending him into the boards. It may not have been a red card offense, but it was a great hard challenge. I am really happy he did it.

Just one of those board induced cards. I would really like to see the boards a bit farther off the field. He pushed/checked the guy hard from the side/behind. If the guy doesn't hit the boards he probably gets a yellow. I think the red was a bit harsh.

I think this is totally an opinion question. I think it was a yellow but Laura said it was pretty brutal and she was closer so... In my opinion it was a yellow, no question on the fact it deserved a card, but I really didn't think it was worth a straight red...

Yeah, pretty similar. I didn't have the greatest view of it b/c I sit on the east side and can't see the boards down there. The replay looked like it was something like that.

When everything was quiet when Eddie Pope was hurt, I was able to yell, "You suck ref!" I'm sure the ref heard me because it was dead silent in the stadium and the ref was only about 15 feet away from me. I'm not sure my yelling "You suck ref!" will change anything, but it made me feel better anyway.
After I yelled at the ref, my friend yelled, "Yeah, thanks for taking away Mathis." Then someone behind him yelled, "Mathis doesn't do anything, we're better of without him. Mathis sucks." My friend promply yelled back, "You suck!" So that's what it's coming down to, fan on fan insults and horrid refs.

In all honesty the red card was warranted. It was a completely retalitory in nature. He made no play on the ball and the check of the KC player would have praised by Coach Whittingham for a good tackle. But that's the wrong football. The problem was the referee had ZERO control of that game. Not two minutes prior to that, Jason Kreis was elbowed in the face inside the box and was on the ground in the fetal position while the trainers ran onto the field. The referee felt the injury was serious enough because he even waved for the trainers to come out. Yet it wasn't serious enough to warrant a penalty? Hmmm. Then on the following goal kick, Watson has clocked in the back of the head as well with no call. And this is all following the atrocious disallowance of RSL's third goal.
The bottom line is this: Jamie Watson's hit was unacceptable. But the referee should never have allowed the play to escalate to that level. He lost control of that game early on. It was a horribly officiated game, for both teams. I don't know what MLS has to do, but their level of officiating MUST improve. I can't count the number of handballs the ref missed tonight, on both teams. And the whistle seemed to be completely arbitrary as to when it blew for a foul. There was no rhyme or reason sometimes. Just my $0.02. __________________
