coordination

Today I got my loyalist shirt and had several friends and family members at the game, RSL won, Kreis hit #98 and Williams played inspired football notching mls 5000th goal...lots of good things. But somehow I left the game with a bad taste in my mouth. Not to put a downer on anyones' day, but I am concerned about coordination between the supporter clubs. What I have loved about going to the games was feeling like everyone in the supporters section was on the same page trying to help the team and get the the "sit down and watch the game" fans going....there has been power in the unity and passion I felt there.

For whatever reason today was the first day I felt a big lack of coordination on the chanting/singing. The second half was better, but I guess my dream is to have the stadium singing at least a couple times a game and with the division between the groups I wonder if that will happen. I respect that not everyone wants to approach soccer the same way and that not all chants/songs are for everyone. That is great. But I just don't want us to work against each other...and to be honest I felt that today a fair amount of the time.

So the topic is coordination/cooperation...does anyone have ideas on how to coordinate our groups better? If I am the only one that sensed the lack of coordination that is fine too. Just thought I would share my two cents and get a little discussion going.

I have to agree with you. I suggested earlier this week that perhaps we should assign a songleader (or what I like to call Capo), because this is not the first time I've noticed a lack of coordination. There could be a Capo from each supporters group, and we could alternate weeks. Capo could stand at the head of the aisle between the two groups, and lead the cheers. I was thinking we could have a bunch of posterboards with the song titles and Capo could select a song, hold it up, and then count a one and a two and a three, and we're off.

I'm still waiting to hear if the Black Hole...I mean RCB is down with that. (Seriously, what's with the pirate flags and so forth? I thought one or two pirate flags with crown added would be cool, but suddenly it looks like we root for the Raiders...Who I most DEFINITELY DO NOT ROOT FOR! Vikings are my boys. Anyway, I've totally digressed here).

I used to think I would like to be Capo, but I've lost my enthusiasm. For some reason the whole competition between the two clubs has me despondent. I think I'll just keep going to the games. Clapping and cheering, but I'm not so eager to worry with the other stuff anymore.

Personally, and I'm not trying to start a fight here, but I think the lack of coordination is being caused by the dislike towards each other between certain members of the groups.

I just wanted to add an here that the coordination issues weren't too noticable from where I was sitting in the stadium. The Loyalists were great throughout the game -- we had no problem hearing you guys at all, and it was very impressive when all the flags got going!

The only reason I saw or heard that things did not sound right was in the first half there was a guy in a Chivas jersey at the top of E33 with a drum and whenever you guys would start a beat he would start beating as hard as he could and it actually sounded terrible with that guy actually trying to ruin the drum beat.

In the second half he was gone so you guys all sounded much better.

There was a very familiar face in the drum line today... welcome back AreliusII

That was actually one of the less enjoyable games for me. Sure we won and there were some great moments, but I was left with a bad taste in my mouth, too. I really wasn’t expecting security personnel to be crawling over and around me before the game.

I sat there and heard and saw everything and was pretty much disgusted at what appeared to me as an arrogant and egotistical confrontation of several Rude & Crude Bast***s against one man. It sort of reminded of a schoolyard skirmish when a gang of bullies finds their next target. And I’m waiting for the predictable ‘but we’re the victims’ explanation.

I’m sure I’ll be attacked for expressing my opinion but had to say it. Conflicts like this are going to give ALL Supporters Clubs a bad name.

I wasn't there a the time of "the incident", so I can't really comment on it, but I do know that RCB does indeed genuinely feel that they weren't in the wrong. Personally, I doubt either party can be completely absolved of blame - of course, that's without me even witnessing the event, and based on my experience with altercations.
