I am really John, currently in West Valley City; formerly of Area 51 in the Rose Bowl. And before that, Titan Stadium for LA Salsa games and a couple of forays into the Santiago Bernabeu for Real Madrid games when I was an illegal alien in Spain. All interspersed with occasional trips to the LA Mausoleum.

I am crazy and stupid enough to take an American flag & big Uncle Sam hat into the LA Coliseum. So be warned.

I also might not make all the games next season because my wife is due next March. Or maybe that will mean I can make it to more games because I can take my three-year-old daughter so she can scream at the top of her lungs at RSL games and not when her mommy & little brother are trying to sleep.

I coach a first and second graders indoor team. So any advice on that will be greatly appreciated.

You don't fit the description of either of the two Johns I know from Blitzz/RAF/etc. At least I don't THINK you do. I can sympathize with you for not being able to make it to all the games for baby reasons... I'll have two new little boys depending on me for life and love next March, as well. Unless they come early. Which is likely. 🙂

So who are you? Let's hear former nicknames, etc. Are you Rockchuck boy? Who posts on BigSoccer from "The West Side"?

hello all. I am dasoccerplayafosho (the soccer player for sure sounding really cool) as you can see above. Despite what many of you may think, I am not related to blitzzfan. I am too young to drive, and I go to the most worthless school in the state, known as Springville Junior High. I play for the hobble creek storm, and hopefully, depending on how I do this saturday, the '89 ODP team. I am a soccer psycho, as much as my small budget (earned from buying and reselling soccer balls and uniforms on ebay), and drivers license-less being, as well as parents who had never heard of soccer before i became addicted will allow. I, too live in the UC (not to be confused with the TV show the OC, unless you want to be extremely confused). I will try to make it out to as many of the RSL games as I can, but I am in 9th grade and in 10th grade english, 10th grade science, and 11th grade math, as well as on a hard schedule with my club team, and 60 milles in between my house and RES, so I dont go to as many as I'd like. Now I must go finish my Hamlet study questions. by the way, does anybody know what type of a mind plays with language, even under the burden of grief and distress?
dasoccerplayafosho
PS, is it just me, or does this forum seem strangely a lot like BS (BS being big soccer, not anything else).

Yes, it's based on the same software package.

Deuce

Hi All,
I am Eric, from Payson (aka Deuce, I have been posting on the Onion Bag boards under the deuce alias, as well) I am a photographer, and I dabble in writing as well as webpages

In 1996 I was stationed at New London, Connecticut, in the Navy, when I first learned of the MLS.
Being born in Maryland I naturally adopted DC United as my team. Although I was a fan of soccer I never really followed the league, opting more for the local high school and saturday afternoon bar leagues.

In 1999, I truly developed a love for soccer while living in the UK, while there I supported Nottingham Forest and Mansfield Town. The City Ground and Field Mill are memories I will cherish for quite some time.

I had only loosely followed the MLS while in the UK.
Since returning from the UK in '03 I started supporting DC United with a new passion.

Ironically I was at a DC United match at RFK (July 14th) against Nottingham Forest when the Salt Lake expansion was announced.
I didn't actually learn of Salt Lake's success until I returned. I thought the guys at work were winding me up because they knew how I loved the game.
I was very excited when I learned they were not!

I want to say thanks to Allison at Real Salt Lake for telling me about this board and the Loyalist's website.
I look forward to getting involved both at the matches and off the pitch...

Thanks,
Deuce

ps... are we tailgating in '05?

Here we go! Here we go! Here we go!!

I am Steve, 27, from SLC, acctually live just a couple blocks from Rice-Eccles (good for walking to games!) I am married and have a 1.5 yr old daughter. Most of my time is spent either at work, which is building machine guns (Uzi's, Ak's, H&K's www.vectorarms.com), digital art to build up a portfolio for a career (currently at www.hiddnfox.deviantart.com), or with my family. although i do spend a little too much time playing the bane of all productivity, video games. Just dropped the FIFA series on PC to start playing the Winning Eleven 7 game. also for all you Soccer Manager game lovers there is an excellent one at www.hattrick.org its free and you get placed in leagues and have weekly games with player training and a trade market. good fun!

I really was introduced into soccer from playing games from the 'cheap bin' I picked up a early fifa 94 (? was on Sega Genesis) game and a rugby game, played the hell outta the FIFA game and introduced it to my friends. I've tried to keep up wioth European leagues best i can with out being able to see games on TV. to be honest I never liked the MLS until recently. looking more into it MLS seems to finally want to go the more European soccer way and not-so-much isolate themselves by 'americanizing' their version of the sport.

anyway I cant wait for April 2005. I cant afford season tickets but i'm sure i'll be at the majority of the games. yea and put me on the list if one of you season holders cant make it to a game, i'll buy tickets from ya!

Hey now! I'm Josh Spongberg. I'm 24. I'm from Cottonwood Heights. I'm currently at school in Henderson, NV. I'm a nursing major at Nevada State. I fell in love with soccer while on a two year sabatical in Argentina. River Plate was my first love in soccer. I will definitely be in attendance for the home opener, and of course I will be standing with the Loyalists all summer long.

I am Dave...
I work for a local TV station as an associate producer and co-founded the loyalists.
I began playing soccer when I was 3 years old and have played, ref'ed, coached and followed it since.
I am going to be married on December 30. I am attempting to make a career in sports broadcasting.
As part of that I was the PA annuncer for the Blitzz for a while and called High School Basket Ball games for 1280. I also produced and anchored a sports show while in college and have worked as a radio DJ.
I am excited to have an MLS team in Utah... I just hope that my career goals keep me here long enough to enjoy it (for years to come).
And I just figured it was about time for me to add my bio.

I finally got myself registered. Things have been too busy lately.

Anyway, I'm Gary, I live in Ogden, I'm 35, divorced, and I have two children that live in Chile. (long story)

I never thought MLS in Utah was even possible and now that it is I can't wait to support the team 100%. It was quite funny the day the team was announced. I was in Miami with my kids and we had to stay a couple of days there to get my son's passport renewed. The kids were playing in the hotel's swimming pool and I was sitting in a lounge chair reading the USA Today newspaper, when I got to the last page of the sports section and saw the tiny headline, "Salt Lake City gets MLS expansion team." I actually came very close to falling out of the chair and had to read the small article several times to believe it. I still have the newspaper.

Anyway, I've been a MLS fan since 96. I guess I really fell in love with the game with the 90 and 94 World Cups. I used to watch alot of football and auto racing until Fox Sports World came around in about 97 and 98 when I then discovered the European leagues and since then I have shed all sports and Soccer is it.

Loyalists through and through.
